Just got off the phone with family (we share an aunt) and Shawn has passed away. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and kids.

For all he's gone through, and given his fighting spirit, this was still unexpected. My thoughts are with the family and all the people he's touched and inspired.

Adam, I don't think there is a right thing to say. If there is a face (you know, the ones we like to use all the time) with tears on it, it would be appropriate here. I don't know what else to say here either. My prayers go out to all of those who were close to Mr. Walsh and his family.

I just heard this terrible news about 5 minutes ago. What a horrible thing to happen to such a great man. To think that he was planning on coaching this year shows how strong willed he was. He was amazing. Just being in his presence was a treat. This is really sad. I want to offer my condolences to the Walsh family and to his freinds and also to the players. I really don't know what to say right now. I'm kinda overwhelmed with everything that has been happening. It has ruined my birthday which is today. This is a sad day.

A sad day indeed. I share in your shock and disbelief.
I think I speak for all of the Wisconsin Hockey family when I extend our best wishes to Shawn Walsh's family and all the Maine fans and players and our prayers will be with them.
Wisconsin Hockey: God Bless.

To all maine fans and the family of Mr. Shawn Walsh. I am sorry, this is just tragic. I guess he is playing hockey upstairs now.

What a terribly shocking development . I offer my heartfelt sympathies and prayers for Coach Walsh, his family, and the entire Maine hockey community.
He will be sorely missed, but I'm sure he will be watching from above.

Didn't know the man, but from what I have and am hearing and reading about this man I can begin to get an idea of what a loss this is for his family, the Univ. of Maine, the players, etc.
My condolences to everyone affected.

Another very sad day for Hockey. Coach Walsh was a great coach and an even better person.
Walshy, we'll miss you.
