What I think would be hilarious is if they get a bunch of “unintended consequences” games that go fifteen innings because there are a succession of one run innings that go (1)runner advances to third on a bunt, sacrifice fly, or ground ball to the right side (2) runner scores on pretty much anything other than ground ball directly at a drawn-in infielder, pop fly to an infielder, or strikeout.
In -2-, 0 out splits, 575 runs were scored on 3,290 PAs in 2016. For -2-, 1 outs, 920 runs were scored on 5,126 PAs. For -2-, 2 outs, 1,301 runs were scored on 6,669 PAs.

As I was saying, Jeff Loria has apparently come to an agreement to sell the Marlins. Here's the problem: the potential buyer is heavily invested in real estate, and is illiquid. The amount he is going to have to borrow could be over MLB's limits in regards to debt:equity ratios.

It would be great if we could get rid of Loria, but we don't want another Frank McCourt on our hands here.

Is he also a bloodless ghoul?

I wouldn't even care. F-ck Loria. Get him out of the sport.

dx, I was thinking you meant the stats were per game: 2B up .7/yr, HR up .7/yr, etc. That's why K's up 7/yr made me think "that can't be right."

Yeah, sorry, I probably should have edited those numbers to be per game. But they were definitely per year.

7.1 Ks/yr would have been pretty amazing for an average of 2 IP past the 9th.

Never happen. The NFL owners are the Catholic Church of professional sports, and no Snakebiter like Cuban is getting in.

The runner on second thing is standard in softball, but pitchers are dominant in softball and there were a lot of 0-0 ties.

The scourge of 3x3 OT strikes MLB.

I'd rather have ties than nonsense rules governing any sports extra periods/innings.

If you want to speed up pitching, don't allow warmup on the mound. If you're in the game, then batter up.

Hard to legislate number of batters faced, unless you then create rules around injuries (and faking it).

If Anschutz can't get an NFL team then Cuban has no chance.

Completely agree. How would you even modify stats, baseball's sort of holy grail, for pitchers and batters with this bizarre and ridiculous rule? Is it an earned run if that runner scores? What happens if a player advances to third with one pitcher on the mound and another gives up a sac fly? Stuff like that.

I think that would be the best middle finger to the other sports. If you must limit extra innings (and lets' be serious, if they didn't limit alcohol sales they would never do this), then just play a tenth inning and if it ends in a tie so be it.

Post-season would still go full length.

I can understand players' concerns about injuries due to weird situations. I don't know what the owners' concerns are and I don't care; f-ck the owners.

The problem is it would just increase the short usage of relievers since now managers wouldn't have to worry about blowing out their pen and being left with a middle infielder pitching.
