Except for his time with the Isles, Coiner never really got a good chance to show his skills in the NHL. There was a lot of sizeism in the NHL in the past.

I find the lack of wild, rampant speculation disappointing

When I saw there was an announcement this crossed my mind, but I'm still a bit surprised by it. I thought we would have at least a season to ponder what life would be like without McShane and where Norwich hockey goes after him. Guess we'll find out sooner than I thought.

So where does Mattson rank on the list of possible replacements? I don't really know the politics and expectations of coaching hires. Is it his job to lose or is the expectation to bring in a bigger name with (more? I don't know his history) head coaching experience?

He will not be considered, nor will he apply. He recruits (extremely well) but that’s it. Hasn’t been on the ice in 8 years for a practice.
