Re: The Casting Call, 2009-10 Edition

You realize Aaron Palushaj (i can't spell lol) turned pro, right?

I'd put Chay Genoway from UND as one of the top offensive d-men in the nation over Cade Fairchild in a heartbeat.

Re: The Casting Call, 2009-10 Edition

Chay Genoway for Hobey! For the following reasons:
Is a scoring leader: http://www.uscho.com/stats/ (Just scored 3 goals last weekend against Minnesota. )

As a defenseman plays the puck well in his own end and makes good decisions. WCHA Defensive player of the year.

Is an academic all-american: http://www.seniorclassaward.com/athletes/chay_genoway/

Had a Hobey winner as a roommate. (Ryan Duncan)

Is interesting to chat with. http://www.fightingsioux.com/ViewArt...CLID=204807988

Is team captain of the Fighting Sioux. http://www.bchockey.com/story/3/BCHL...Dako ta.aspx#
Quote:
Genoway was an American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) second-team All-American last season after scoring three goals and 29 assists for 32 points in 42 games. The Morden, Manitoba, native was named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Defensive Player of the Year and earned All-WCHA first team honors. Genoway was also named to his second straight All-College Hockey News second team and was an ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America third team honoree, joining Karl Goehring as the only Academic All-Americans in program history.

Schroeder is part of a proud program looking to restore itself to glory after missing the NCAA tournament.

Not much glory in Minnesota to start the season!

Re: The Casting Call, 2009-10 Edition

Elliot you can't have a discussion about the Hobey Baker without adding Chay Genoway's name to the mix, I think he is as good as any of the players you have listed in this blog post. Other than that I have no problems or issues with it.

Re: The Casting Call, 2009-10 Edition

I don't know what people see in Cade Fairchild, that kid is brutal and not on the same talent line as a Chay Genoway.

Fairchild isn't half the defenseman that Genoway is. Fairchild has no clue where the blue line is.
