2" and maybe 3" if the wind hadn't polished everything down. Very light and fluffy, so shoveling went quick. I was very happy the plow came down my street before I made it out to shovel. My roommate still managed to run over the snow. I thought I had earned a reprieve by waking up early to shovel. But nope. I started pushing the snow across her side of the driveway only to reveal a nice set of tire tracks and compacted snow.

While shoveling, I did see the front-end loader go into the cul-de-sac near my house. It was hilarious. The backup alarm must have woken up everyone in a five-mile radius. I can only imagine the sound the bucket made coupled with the backup alarm ensured no one in that cul-de-sac was left wondering if their street had been plowed. Probably shook the dishes in the cupboards.

At least it is supposed to blow in during the night tonight and stop snowing by Tuesday afternoon; that will give DOT and local plows plenty of time to clear everything in time for Wednesday morning commute.
I'd rather have 5 feet of snow than 2-3". Then you have an excuse to show up late after taking the morning to blow the driveway.

I hope to hell we don't get a foot. The last time we didn't even get plowed out for 50 hours. A foot of snow in Maryland might as well be a mile deep in Minneapolis or Buffalo.

@SWhyno: Bruce Boudreau knows how DC handles snow. "Yeah, they have one salt truck for Maryland, DC and Virginia. I know."

1 inch is incapacitating here. Which is infuriating because 80% of this town is from New York, New England, or Chicago. "A city of southern efficiency and northern hospitality."

Starting to stick on the street now. Already have a couple on the car, grass and fence posts. Sounds like the city is telling folks not to commute tomorrow -- it's going to be a sleet / ice mix all morning.

Another bout of hysteria gets smacked down by reality.

                            Snowmaggedon! Snowpocalypse!

                            um, never mind....

Yes, it was a pretty heavy storm, about 6"-8" of snow, which has already changed over to freezing rain. Nowhere near the 12"-18" breathlessly bandied about for days.
