BSU Home games will not be carried on Lakeland Public Television this year..... This sucks for those of us that live to far away to get to the games. I don't agree with the fact that having the games on TV affected attendance. When you have one of the highest ticket price structure in the WCHA, if not the highest, that kills attendance.

Re: Bemidji State Beavers: Defending the MacNaughton 2017-18

Here is what I put together late last season from the various athletic websites around the league regarding ticket prices. I am not including any "premium" games or fees that may be charged.

      BSU: 45, 30, 25, 18 (12 youth)
      Alabama-Huntsville: 13, 8
      Alaska: 19, 11
      Alaska-Anchorage: 23.75, 19.50, 10
      Bowling Green: 20, 15, 13
      Ferris State: 16 (10 youth)
Lake Superior State: 12 (6 youth)
      Mankato: 16 (8 youth)
      Michigan Tech: 18 (10 youth)
      Northern Michigan: 16, 15 (10 youth)

Just another short-sighted AD with antiquated bass-ackwards ideas about attendance.

Broadcasts like LPTV are a 2.5 hour commercial on what kind of fun you could be having at the Sanford Center instead of sitting at home. The best example I can give you in the league is NMU - their average attendance per game last season was 1884. The two games that were televised? Attendance was 4075 (October 29) and 4026 (February 24). Go ahead and tell me that TV was a hindrance in getting people to attend.

Re: Bemidji State Beavers: Defending the MacNaughton 2017-18

Having just two games on TV...that just so happen to be against your biggest rival...and having EVERY home game on TV is apples to oranges. I do agree that it is a 2.5 hour commercial about the University.

None of us are the President or the AD of the University...so we don't get a say in what's best for the University. Having said that, the games weren't sold out. So, maybe Einstein was right about this quote

Insanity = doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Former Beaver Brad Hunt has signed a free agent deal with the Vegas Golden Knights. 2 years, $1.3 million, haven't seen if it is a one way or two way contract.

So, I have been thinking, and maybe I am wrong on the details. But with the hockey games being produced by KBSU this season, those are available on cable in Bemidji, doesn't this defeat the purpose of not putting the games on TV so the people will be more inclined to go to the games? They will still be on TV in the local market, aren't those the ones you are looking to try and get more butts in the seats from, not those of us that live a couple of hours away (or more) from the arena?

Still on the fence about whether I will purchase the WCHA.tv product or not.
