'Course it does. You tried to sideline what is obviously an argument about tendencies with the "refutation by single example" canard. Everything about human behavior comes with a flotilla of YMMV and SSS caveats. But you know that. Again, you have to up your game if you want to last here -- you're not on Freep or Redstate anymore.

Now, if you want to return to a sincere discussion, we were getting somewhere. (If you want to play the noise machine game that's fine too but life's too short for me to waste my typing on it.) As I said below, I think basic political orientation is a personality quirk. Both leftist and rightist narratives have some validity, but certain people are magnetized to one pole or the other. This is fascinating, because unlike say preferring vanilla or chocolate, political ideas appear to the self to be rational, or at least groping attempts to generalize from observation and logic. The other part that's interesting is political ideas are themselves not trivial matters of taste in their consequences -- it really does matter in the real world whether we adopt a certain policy or not. So here we've got the conjunction of ideas that are rational and non-arbitrary being held for irrational and arbitrary reasons. I can't really think of another case (if I were a religious believer, then religious conviction would be the obvious other case).

the abortion issue is NOT if life begins at conception. obviously it does or the cells would not divide amd grow. that's the hard science you like to talk about. the question is more when does that life become viable, or when does it become "human". and the death penalty is not a liberal / conservative issue, its more like a power of the state to kill issue. not an issue you can easily put into one side or the other.

But that's exactly the same point I just made. So why does age matter so much? Because they can't talk yet? Does that make someone inhuman? Is it the size?

Holy fking sh.t. We have 50 feet of snow in Buffalo and the Midwest is experiencing one of the coldest Novembers ever due to a massive typhoon and we are still talking about abortions in this thread.

Jfc. Is it raining fetuses? Last time I checked the Dems weren't in power so I highly doubt it.

When did this thread go from science trying to convince the non-believers to science trying to convince the believers?
