Re: The PPACA Thread Part IV - Repeal & Replace, or Something...
My brother got matched right back with Minnesota's peds. He's in a weird program where he's been in residency for a few months now despite graduating today. It's a pilot program but he's made us all proud.
I'm guessing he's going to end up in pediatric cardiology since that's what he wants to specialize in. But secretly, with his master's in public health and MD, he's either going to run a department or a hospital some day.Code:As of 9/21/10: As of 9/13/10: College Hockey 6 College Football 0 BTHC 4 WCHA FC: 1

Today my brother graduated from med school (Minnesota) in a time of great uncertainty for the medical industry. We have no idea what is going to happen or how this is going to play over the next year. Funny how life works sometimes.
Here's to him and the medical profession.
Huh, I thought he graduated like a year or two ago...Jordan Kawaguchi for Hobey!!

I mean, he kind of did. He's piloting a program where you complete med school when you complete your competencies instead of completing four years time.Code:As of 9/21/10: As of 9/13/10: College Hockey 6 College Football 0 BTHC 4 WCHA FC: 1

I'm in no way insulting your relative. He's done more post-grad than my glorified MBA, "IT Management" ever will.Last edited by FadeToBlack&Gold; 05-06-2017, 12:55 AM.

Specialists make a ton of money. Family physicians not so much. That's wrong. No new ideas in Health Care. Until then we'll always pay the most and have the worst outcomes.**NOTE: The misleading post above was brought to you by Reynold's Wrap and American Steeples, makers of Crosses.

I designed and teach an international health care systems course. In it I talk quite a bit about how the U.K. And similar nations don't pay their MDs as much as we do, but they also don't really pay much for med school.
In contrast, my family member has over 300k of debt racked up and he still has a year long fellowship to do. His loans will be higher than a Mortgage for years.Last edited by Deutsche Gopher Fan; 05-06-2017, 02:16 PM.

"Nobody dies because they don’t have access to health care.” Congressman Raul Labrador of Idaho.
It's a shame the only way he ever loses re-election is if someone against him says something even worse to get cheers."I went over the facts in my head, and admired how much uglier the situation had just become. Over the years I've learned that ignorance is more than just bliss. It's freaking orgasmic ecstasy".- Harry Dresden, Blood Rites

Over $10K of that was the fee for the pediatric orthopedic surgeon for a surgery that was 1-2 hours. No complaints though. He's not 100% yet, but is able to run now. The anesthesiologist made out pretty well too. He gets to go back in the fall to have the hardware taken out. I'm sure this will be considered a preexisting condition so it gives insurance companies another reason to **** him over when he is an adult on his own plan.
Should Joe Iowa really be on the hook for this?a legend and an out of work bum look a lot alike, daddy.
