Crawford made it sound like the Lakers played well last night, but were a bit unlucky.
At the beginning of the year I was hoping that they would be 5-1 after the first 3 series. I figured they would lose one against State last weekend.

I felt the Lakers did not play well last night and could have lost by a lot more then 1-0. Kapalka really kept the team in the game at the beginning of the third to give the Lakers a chance last night.

Let's hope so. No excuses this time. Hope the Lakers can win and keep Truth Boy off these boards.

Not sure if there is any truth to this, but Bill Crawford and Fred Pletch were discussing the possibility of the new WCHA not having an automatic qualifier to the tournament due to the fact that most of the schools are technically D-II schools during the first intermission.

Nice to see the Lakers rebound with a win tonight. It will be interesting to see how they do down in Miami.

I wouldn't put much stock into this. It's just speculation.

Yea, tonight's Laker team looked like the same squad that swept MSU. Last night's Lakers were very frustrating to watch. I have no idea how you can look SO much better just 24 hours later.

Looks like Coach Roque had the boys fired up to stay in first place after the weekend. Miami is going to be tough but with good goaltending this team is going to surprise a lot of people this year. Way to go Lakers.

Did they have a give a fan a chance to broadcast a game with Crawford contest? Because that guy that did the game with him tonight was pretty bad, and that is putting it mildly. I didn't think I would long for a game Crawford did by himself, but after tonight I did.

Makes me wonder if the WCHA will try and poach two of the Atlantic Schools that are DI (Air Force, Canisus, Robert Morris) if it does happen. I really doubt it happens though.

Anyways, a better game tonight. They came prepared tonight, unlike Friday. Excellent defense, most of the saves Kapalka made were easy. Hope the Lakers will be ready for Miami, a team the Lakers should compete with, since they are having growing pains with a young team. Hoping for a split.

I'd heard that the new WCHA wouldn't get a vote in D1 matters without WMU, BGSU or ND, but not that they wouldn't get an auto-bid.

That would be counter productive to the growth of College Hockey. I also heard that without a D1 school the WCHA would have no vote.

Fridays night was also the Homecoming Football game, which usually draws really well, and the Joan Jett concert at the casino which was sold out. This town does a horrible job working within itself to make sure fans can make it to all events. I've never heard of a Homecoming game on a Friday night instead of a Saturday afternoon, but that's the Sault.

Bowling Green worked hard all weekend, but, boy, they clutch and grab like crazy, and I can see how it's hard to get any offence going against them. It haunted them a bit in the first period of Saturdays game, but after that the ref's basically just let it go. BG's goalie was amazing, too, and the Lakers could have had six goals against a lesser netminder. At least they finally got the idea to shoot from the point and get traffic in front, and that's how they got two of their goals. A solid effort on Saturday, though, compared to Friday.

I'm hoping we don't catch Miami at a bad time...really po'd after being swept by Ferris, and take it out on us. KK has been great, though, and the Laker 'D' in general, so maybe we can steal one.

I would guess that many more homecoming games are held on Friday than Saturday.

There are far more played on Friday than on Saturday.

Sorry, it just sounds crazy. Where I grew up down state, all the area high schools had homecoming on Saturday.

It looks like UAH hockey is folding.

UAH was supposed to play at Abel Arena next arena. Now it looks like we'll have to try and get another team to play us unless a miracle happen sin Huntsville.

They've been on life support for several years now. The crowds were sparse when the Lakers played there a few weeks ago and Saturday vs Air Force they did not even have 1000 in a building that holds over 7,000.
