Old Pio's favorite red head remembered in Chicago. Fitting that Pios' 8th Natty came under the Banner of the MOP of the 1969 Tournament, DU's 5th national championship, and Blackhawk fan favorite.

It's a little hard for Sioux/Hawks fans to see another school get #8, but this was a good result. DU has a first class coach and program, and they were clearly the best of the pack this year. The most deserving team often does not always (or even often) win this one-and-done tournament, and it's nice to see it happen when it does.

Unless it's the gophers, of course.

And maybe Old Pio just became a little less crotchety with this win, wherever he is. And I won't speculate where that might be.

Heard a number of comments regarding UMD's size advantage.
Current Pios--Sean Mostrom, 6'3"-200, and Erich Fear, 6'5"-217, could see more ice time next year. And the incoming recruiting class has more poundage.

In the house where his favorite redhead, Keith Magnuson, jersey is hanging, first dominating the domers, and then winning the Natty, Old Pio's degree of crochetiness must have taken a substantial dip.

CC's Jaden Schwartz and DU's Paul Stastny playing on the same line for the Blues tonight.

In case you wondered, there are 158 days until DU's exhibition game.

Speaking of the the Goal Czar, 30-47-77, not bad for his 1st ECHL season. He's 1-2-3 in playoffs. Makowski spent some time in Europe and was 16-34-50 for Allen. Playoffs 1-4-5.
Nolan Zajac, Toledo, made the All Rookie team with 11-43=54. Playoffs 0-7-7

Manchester Monarchs have a Pioneer Trifecta:

Quentin Shore 18-25-43 4th on team 3-6-9 Playoffs
