The First Order didn't neglect the weakness in Starkiller Base. It was heavily shielded. Had Han and Chewie not disabled the shields then the attack would have failed and the Resistance base on D'Qar would have been destroyed.

Why have shields at all if they're so easily disabled by the Resistance?

Let's just admit it - Star Wars villains are almost always the dumbest villains in cinematic history. They waste time and resources building these complicated super-weapons that can be easily defeated by a ragtag band of pipsqueaks who happen to know how to channel a little space magic.

        Bond villains say hello.

It isn't that they're dumb, it is that they're overconfident. Same as most Bond villains.

Possibly but it looks like Kylo Ren has the rebel scum down to about 50 fighters if the final scene in last Jedi are showing all that's left.

          He's making Palpatine proud😈

Mostly true, but there are more Resistance fighters out there. Not everyone who evacuated D'Qar went to that one rendezvous point, and the First Order only tracked Leia's ship.

Do you mean Keira Knightley? Or Natalie Portman? Or both? Edit: my bad, KK was in Ep 1, not 3.

Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

Wasn't the point of showing the kid in the stables that as long as there is hope, the Resistance will never die?

Hey KK was the decoy in the movie. You cannot deny they look more than similar.

Now as far as acting abilities, the difference is vast.

to be fair, it should have been impossible for them to drop out of hyperspace inside the shields.

dropping out of hyperspace in planet's atmosphere seems impossible considering what we know about how FTL travel works in Star Wars. And even dumber, apparently the precise time to drop out of hyperspace was calculated in Han Solo's head, since he said "now" and manually threw a switch, despite the fact that they'd be traveling so fast that his reaction time would have to be impossibly fast to time it right.

Space wizards. It's a movie about wizards in space and the people around them. You need some form of that suspension of disbelief going into these things.
