Re: Talk With The Admin, April Edition
In the humor thread the board quoted me and changed what i said.
This is against the rules for the message board.
Rule 3: Be yourself! Do not pose as a player, coach or other known personality. Similarly, do not pretend to be another poster, or change the content of another user when quoting them. Let others speak for themselves.
Board...in the future please let me speak for myself!
Please Note: This thread should not be construed as a violation of rule 14
Rule 14: Attacking the moderators on the message board for editing, deleting, closing or moving your posts will not be tolerated. If you feel you have a legitimate grievance e-mail the USCHO Fan Forum Admin using the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page. Complaints anywhere else will be deleted or moved. If you attack the moderators you can expect to be suspended or banned.
The reason is this thread is not an attack. It is a discussion about how we as posters are supposed to know what rules we can follow if the board itself doesn't follow the rules.
I suppose the board could argue that this was just "good natured", but how am i "johnny the poster" supposed to know this?

And this stems from something a lot deeper than whether or not I can insult my brother on line (I really don't care about that either way... I have plenty of other opportunities to pick on him). It's not just this instance by itself but goes back to some incidents that occured before the FF.
Further, What bobo is doing goes directly against the spirit of the type of board you claim you are trying to create. A 'safe' place to discuss hockey. How is what Bobo posted (or what waveofficing is posting) fostering that?
|
I'm sorry; I wasn't clear in my earlier post.
The point is that I didn't see the posts that Bobo made where he called someone names. If I had seen them, I would have done something about it. You are absolutely correct in saying that Bobo (or anyone else, not to pick on Bobo here) insulting someone is against the friendly spirit we are trying to foster here.
What I was trying to get across is this: I will not see every post made at the Fan Forum. There are just too many posts, and not enough time in my life to read each and every single thing posted here. Even if I wanted to read them all, I'm not sure it is physically possible.
So I rely on two things: that the posts I do happen to read are a pretty good sample of what is out there, and that if anything obviously crosses the line, it will be reported.
Neither of those things happened here. I didn't happen to come across Bobo's recent name-calling, but when you did it in the past, I happened to read those posts. So you got warned then, and Bobo didn't in this case. If I see the comments you are mentioning, I'll do something about it.
And again, I don't know what "waveoffice" is posting, or even that there is a user with that name. How would I know, since no one has said anything to me, and I didn't look in whatever thread it happens to be posted in?

For the record you didn't warn me as in an email to me telling me not to do it. And fine, I'll report the posts the long way since mentioning it here doesn't seem to work.
BTW - a large clue that this sort of posting is occuring is a large amount of activity in a given thread in a short period of time.

Is this the question you are referring to?
Different people will have different opinions on how this question should be answered. As we have seen in this thread, some people feel no association threads should be allowed at all. I won't go that far... if people want to do it, and clearly some people do, let 'em, I say.
But I'm not going to let the association threads take over that cafe forum. So I closed several of them, particularly ones that were started to protest the existence of association threads. I may have also closed an additional thread or two that are not as popular as the "big four."
Let's say this: I'll allow the four most popular association threads: word, song, people and sports. Any other topic will be closed.

13. Only one thread regarding a particular topic will be allowed. Duplicate threads discussing the same or very similar topics will be either merged or deleted.
Sorry. I'm only quoting you here.

I didn't have a point really, aside from supporting legal - I was just saying. The description I gave for Bobo fits a whole lot of other posters here too.

Re: Talk With The Admin, April Edition
Can I offer constructive criticism without falling afoul of Rule 14 or Rule 16 or whichever rule says not to criticize the Admin?
