Liam Blackburn is a left-shot center on the West Kelowna Warriors' first line. Interesting note - Former UNH recruit Jordan Masters plays right wing on the Warriors' 1st line and he is currently the third leading scorer in the BCHL with 3 goals and 9 assists.

Sounds like Stewart's BC connections paying off -- Stewart recruited him for Merrimack last year, and he visited MC last year. Stewart talked to him after the BC showcase two weeks ago, and he flew down to UNH this past week and loved it. May come 2015 or 2016.

Grayson Downing with a better shot. He's the kind of kid I said was lacking up front in the future recruiting classes.

Just noticed that T. Van Riemsdyk has made the Chicago starting roster.

Also just noticed it is on the other thread :-)

Brendan van Riemsdyk scored 2 more goals today in the Islanders Hockey Club's 6-2 win over the Bay State Breakers. BvR has scored 7 goals in the last 4 USPHL games.

Seems that the van Riemsdyk family has lots to celebrate early in this hockey season; wonder what was in that New Jersey drinking water?

Looks like Brendan (part of the van Riemsdyk Trifecta as its been said) is having a great year! It will be nice to see another "vR" skating on UNH ice...hopefully sooner than later! 😄. I do believe his team is playing in NH at the rinks in Exeter Oct 26th...

    Re: UNH Recruits: 2012-2016

Jason O'Neill (DOB 3/23/97) a 5'11"' 170 forward on the Skipjacks Hockey Club 18U team has committed to UNH. So far this season, O'Neill has scored 5 goals and 3 assists in 7 games. Last April, US Hockey Report said:

"O’Neill is a skilled forward who has good size and a fluid stride. His older brother, Colin, is committed to UMass-Lowell and there is no reason why Jason couldn’t do the same. Like many players here, he is thin and lacks physical maturity, but over the next few years could develop into an excellent player. His hands are slick and smooth -- and he shoots to score. This past season he recorded a 28-33-61 line in 30 games at the U16 level."

More details to follow on the blog.

Is there any other reason? Gotta love some of the content of scouting reports.

Actually, I believe you're probably familiar with the "get the puck to the net and create traffic" approach that certain blue collar teams employ. When there are no goals, the answer is to crowd more people in the crease rather than work on shooting to score.

From a defenseman, somewhat understandable. From a forward ... not so much.

You wouldn't have any "certain blue collar team" in mind, would you 'Watcher?

"Mr High and Wide" from a few years ago comes to mind; he totally wrecked our SOG.
