Bertuzzi signs for 2 more years in Detroit, ensuring that the Wings will continue to have at least one player we all hate.

Dammit. Why can't he just go away, and maybe go bankrupt or something?
If you want to be a BADGER, just come along with me

      BRING BACK PAT RICHTER!!!

At his graduation ceremony from the U of Minnesota, my cousin got a keychain. When asked what UW gave her for graduation, my sister said, "A degree from a University that matters."

Canned music is a pathetic waste of your time.

Well right. The offense isn't actually TERRIBLE, it's just very mediocre. They've scored 2.68 goals per game, which is 12th best in the league. (The power play is 4th worst.) It's the defense and goaltending (1.93 GAA) that are carrying the team. When they come up against a good D or a hot goalie, though, you wind up with something like the loss to Pittsburgh, to which I was overreacting for effect. I don't think they need to give up all their inexpensive guys (Kreider, McDonagh, Stepan, Del Zotto) for Rick Nash or whatever other big name might be rumored, but I'd be nervous about scoring enough goals if they went into the playoffs with the team as it's presently constituted. If I'm Sather, I'd sooner kick the tires on Selanne (who's having a pretty great year, all things considered) and see if he could bring some offensive spark.

Toews involved in a minor car accident...

You really gotta wonder if Toews might be facing concussion problems now... I mean, this is a drive he's made how many times over the past few years? It really makes me wonder if there is something off about his coordination and timing.... It would be an explanation to him not producing over the past few weeks... I really do wonder if he got his bell rung and the current sit down is a result of someone on the team finally noticing something...

After seeing the story about the car accident on the NHL's site I had the exact same thought. The "day-to-day upper-body injury" that Coach Quennville says is "progressing" was fishy in the first place, especially with missing two games and being "questionable" for the ones coming up this weekend...this new story convinced me.

Carter dealt from Columbus to LA for Jack Johnson and a first. Yes. Jack "no one ever made me learn how to be a defensemen" Johnson.

How Columbus keeps letting Howson make moves is astounding.

So, LA took on the player with the longer contract AND the higher cap hit and STILL gave up a 1st round pick? I guess LA is that desperate for more scoring. I wonder how long Johnson will last in Columbus before he gets shipped out for other pieces.

Hell of a streak though, one that may not be matched for many years to come.

Jackets fans love this move. I don't think Carter ever broke a sweat in a CBJ jersey and JJ say's he is excited about the opportunity to play for Columbus. It's a pretty good trade for both sides.

Ha. Hahahaha. You should have held out for Voynov. Carter could retire tomorrow and the Kings are a much better team because of this deal. JJ ranks near the bottom for pretty much every single 5x5 stat you can find among defensemen that play regularly. He's a power play specialist who is completely irresponsible in his own zone and his teams give up more shots, scoring chances and goals because he's on the ice.

                                Edit:
This year is [Johnson’s] fifth straight year having the worst Corsi on the team and his fourth straight year having the worst goals against rate. Entering this season, Johnson’s career goals against rate ranked 227th out of 228 NHL defensemen with 60+ games played. His career relative Corsi (the improvement in his team’s shot differential when he is on the ice) ranked 222nd out of 228, behind only Wade Belak, Jason Strudwick, Ryan Parent, Oskars Bartulis, Deryk Engelland, and Brendan Mikkelson.
Next Howson should finish the deal by giving Nash to Detroit for Ericcsson or Vancouver for Ballard.
