Volume doesn't really have anything to do with it. Both leagues have a pretty high volume of games, from what I see in their thread.

Their lowest score amongst "full time" pickers is 58.2%... that's a decent score in our league. And look at the common denominators:

      HockeyTeacher: ECAC 70%, HEA 64%
      OnMAA: ECAC 67.9%, HEA 63%
      mattj711: ECAC 71.5%, HEA 63%
      Slewfoot: ECAC 65.1%, HEA 60%
      DC: ECAC 60.2%, HEA 50%

There have been a large number of games in both leagues... The difference in % between the leagues has to be well within the realm of statistically significant, and I can't imagine it's even close. No, to me, this points to the unpredictability of HEA.

I should whip out my old stats book and run some significance numbers on this. I'm curious.

Funny, I just mentioned this in the ECAC Predictors thread.

I suspect that the Cornell affect may have something to do with this. Take out all the Cornell games and you get a different view. There are more teams in the ECAC, and there are a couple of clear echelons, Echelon one being Cornell on an island.

I guess with that user name, HockeyTeacher can't help but be in first!! The first number is the number of games right out of the 86 games played by HockeyEast teams thus far.

              OnMAA.............................54.............6 3%

              Hockeyfan 111...................50.............58%
              Joe Hockey.......................50...............58%
              gc2.................................48............ ..56%
              TTT20.............................48.............. 56%
              scrambledlegs....................45..............5 2%
              DC...................................43........... ..50%

Sorry for stealing your thunder! And thank you to NU for 29% of my correct answers.

And I guess I love this unpredictability! I know I felt all kinds of happy when I correctly identifited that UNH would beat BU!

Maybe it's just the area...aren't a number of the underdog stories centered around Boston??

I picked UNH as well, though I wouldn't so much say I felt "happy" to have chosen right (certainly happy to see the ratdogs go down in flames, as has become common) as much as I felt "smug."

So if I follow eggs statistical analysis, jump into the HE pool, don't pick any obvious favorites ... Alright, game on:

My bad. I changed it. I really should start looking closer at what I posted. No offense. I'm not a BU fan but I did pick them because I like to pick an upset or two each week. Its no fun if you just pick the favorites every week.

This week might be my best week, simply because Maine is off.

Any way to watch the BC BU tilt online tonight without buying a monthly subscription to BU's website thing? I was going to attend but wimped out.
