Can anyone tell me if the 2 games today will be on web. There is a weather alert starting at 8:00PM (starting in New York) calling for snow, sleet, and freezing rain. Catching the game's on the web may be a good option after all.

There will NOT be video, though WIRY WILL carry the Plattsburgh game AND according to this site, the Utica/Castleton game as well.

      Castleton/Utica WILL have livestats here.

If a "qualified/competent" AD qualifies as "equipment", then the answer is yes.

While the webcast comments continue, PSTV is not here over winter break to provide coverage and have very little interest in pulling together enough of a staff to cover games over break. It has been tried in the past to no avail.

3 ranked teams at Cardinals Classic
              {Article from the Plattsburgh Press-Republican - Dec. 30, 2011}

Plattsburgh State kicks off the second part of the season this weekend by hosting a tournament that includes three of the top 10 teams in Division III men's hockey.

The Cardinals, ranked fifth in the USCHO.com Division III Men's Poll, face Babson tonight at Stafford Ice Arena on the first day of the Cardinal Classic. No. 3 Castleton and No. 9 Utica will meet in today's first game. The winners will play for the championship Saturday, following the third-place game.

Tonight's contest will be Plattsburgh's first since a 4-4 tie Dec. 9 at Norwich. The Cardinals (6-2-3) returned to practice Monday.

"I think we got our legs back (Thursday)," defenseman Mike Grace said. "The first couple days it's hard, since you're off the ice for 10 straight days. But I think we're ready to go."

Plattsburgh State won last year's Classic by edging Neumann in the final.

Kyle Kudroch leads the 2011-12 team with nine points, and Nick Jensen, Ryan Craig and Grace all have eight.

Mark Constantine missed the Cardinals' last two games with a shoulder injury, but coach Bob Emery said the freshman forward will be back in the lineup this weekend.

Freshman defenseman Matt Sollows and sophomore forward Daniel Cobb are no longer on the Cardinals' roster. Both played sparingly during the first semester, and Emery said they wanted to go somewhere they could see more ice time. That leaves Plattsburgh with 26 players, and Emery said he wasn't expecting any more roster changes as of Thursday.

Babson (3-7), a member of the ECAC East, lost to Curry, 6-2, in its most recent game on Dec. 8. The Beavers have allowed at least four goals in all but two of their games, and they're tied for 60th out of 71 Division III teams in scoring defense.

Three goalies have played this season, but Zeke Testa has seen the most time between the pipes. The junior is 2-4 with a 4.55 GAA and a .870 save percentage.

Andrew Bonazza and Matt Furey both have seven points for Babson, and Jay Haseley has netted a team-best five goals.

"We don't know much about them. We won't have any tape on them, and I assume they won't have any tape on us," Emery said. "So it will be old-fashioned coaching going into the game, and let the kids play."

Castleton (10-1) won its first nine games of the season before falling at Norwich. The Spartans closed the first semester with a 5-2 win over St. Michael's on Dec. 3. They feature six players in double digits in scoring, led by forwards Nick Lazorko (12 goals, eight assists) and Dan Bell (seven goals, 12 assists). Goaltender Erick Cinotti's .942 save percentage is the best in Division III.

Utica won its last three games, including a Dec. 10 12-0 thumping of Salve Regina, to finish the first part of the season at 8-3. Tim Coffman is the Pioneers' top scorer with 18 points, and Trever Hertz has a team-high eight goals.

Plattsburgh, which was unbeaten in its last four games of the first half, plays non-conference opponents for three weeks before resuming its SUNY Athletic Conference schedule Jan. 21. Grace said the Cardinals need to make sure they don't let up during games in the second semester.

"I think we just gotta keep our foot on the gas for a whole 60 minutes," Grace said. "I think we tend to take some time off during the games and maybe not play a full 60 minutes. We just gotta keep our forecheck ... be smart in our defensive zone and play a full 60 minutes."

                  Plattsburgh State rolls into Cardinal Classic title game {Article from the Plattsburgh Press-Republican - Dec. 31, 2011}

The line of Nick Jensen, Alex Jensen and Alex Brenton combined for seven points in the second period Friday to lead Plattsburgh State into the Cardinal Classic championship game.

The Cardinals scored four goals in the second and went on to a 5-0 win over Babson on the first day of the annual men's hockey tournament at Stafford Ice Arena.

They advanced to today's final against No. 3 Castleton, which beat No. 9 Utica 5-2 Friday. Babson and Utica will play in the third-place game.

The Jensens/Brenton line was a new combination, and it seemed to work well. The Jensens are from Sweden, and Brenton said Nick compared the trio to a Vancouver Canucks line that also features Swedish brothers.

"Big Jensen told me in between the second and third to just keep working, I'm like a little (Alex) Burrows and they're like the Sedin twins," Brenton said. "And it kind of worked out that way. They're getting all the points and I'm just being a little pest. So it's good."

Mathieu Cadieux earned the win in net with 20 saves, and Josh Leis stopped eight shots in the third period.

Both teams were playing their first game in three weeks.

"I think both teams did a little feeling out, and we got a little bit of a slow start in the first period," Plattsburgh coach Bob Emery said. "It took a while to get the rust off, but I thought we played pretty good after that.

"We tried to just focus on getting shots on net and get in there for rebounds, and I thought we did a good job of that."

That's how the fifth-ranked Cardinals (7-2-3) got their first goal. Brenton banged in a rebound from the left side of the net for his first career goal 2:40 into the second. The freshman from Kanata, Ontario had one assist in four games before Friday.

"You always dream of playing at a level like this growing up, playing junior, and to get that first goal here in the NCAA feels real good," Brenton said.

Kyle Taylor chipped the puck in from nearly the same spot as Brenton four minutes later to make it 2-0.

Alex Jensen took a pass from Nick on a 3-on-1, made a move in front and put it high for Plattsburgh's third goal at 10:30. Then Nick got in on the scoring with a shot from the right circle.

Matt MacLeod slid in the puck in the middle of the third. Nick Jensen finished with three points, Taylor had two and Jared Docking earned two assists.

Zeke Testa had 38 saves for Babson (3-8).

Castleton (11-1) scored three power-play goals in the first 7:03 of the afternoon game to take control early. The Spartans ended the first period with a 4-0 lead. Nick Lazorko potted one just 39 seconds in, and Dan Bell sandwiched a pair of goals around one by Colin Murray.

Utica (8-4) replaced starting goalie Nick Therrien with Evan Smith after the fourth goal.

Jordan Hobaica and Evan Chlanda scored for the Pioneers in the final five minutes, and the Spartans added at empty-netter.

Utica's Adam Graff was ejected 4:07 into the game after receiving a contact-to-the-head penalty and a game misconduct for a hit on a Castleton player. Doug Marshall was assessed a 10-minute misconduct in the second period.

                    Cardinals finally break through {Article from the Plattsburgh Press-Republican - Jan. 1, 2012}

Plattsburgh State had just one loss to a ranked team before this weekend, but it didn't have any wins versus the elites, settling instead for three ties.

The Cardinals broke through Saturday against the No. 3 team in Division III men's hockey and claimed the Cardinal Classic title in the process.

Jake Mooney scored with 5:08 left for a 2-1 come-from-behind victory against Castleton.

"We've played a lot of the better teams really tough, for sure, but we've been getting a lot of ties against the good teams," Mooney said. "So it's nice to finally get a win against a really good team."

Castleton goaltender Erick Cinotti was named the tournament MVP. He made 40 saves Saturday and totaled 82 on the weekend. Paul Puglisi, Kyle Kudroch and Alex Jensen represented Plattsburgh on the All-Tournament team, while Castleton's Dru Douglas and Utica's Tim Coffman also made the squad.

Utica defeated Babson, 6-2, in the first game Saturday.

Castleton (11-2) will return to Stafford Ice Arena on Friday for another shot at the Cardinals.

No. 5 Plattsburgh (8-2-3) is unbeaten in its last six games.

"I like the way we played (Saturday)," Plattsburgh coach Bob Emery said. "I thought we played with a lot of speed, and I thought we did a good job on the attacks. I thought we did a good job on offense."

After a scoreless first period, the Cardinals held a 20-10 shot advantage in the second. They had a number of good chances, including two Kudroch shots that hit the iron.

But the Spartans got on the board first when the puck bounced to Brett Zeggil right in front of Mathieu Cadieux, and Zeggil flipped a soft shot over the Plattsburgh goalie with nine minutes left in the period.

Kyle Taylor stuffed the puck in the lower right corner to knot it up 3:30 before intermission.

Plattsburgh continued to fire away at the Castleton net in the third, and eventually Mooney's slapshot found the twine. Vick Schlueter and Ryan Craig assisted.

The Spartans put just three shots on goal in the period.

"I think we ran out of gas," Castleton coach Alex Todd said. "It's sad to say, but unfortunately we didn't look like we had enough energy today to do it.

"And when you see a game like this, where as the game went along, we just seemed to get farther and farther behind, that's frustrating."

Cadieux turned away 17 shots for his second straight win.

Castleton's Brad Barber was sent off the ice in the middle of the first period after he hit Alex Jensen in the corner, leaving Jensen lying on the ice for a couple of minutes. Barber was assessed a 5-minute major for hitting from behind as well as a game misconduct.

The Cardinals couldn't score on the long power play and finished 0-for-5 with the man-advantage.

"(The Spartans are) a good hockey team, and to be able to find a way to win is so important," Emery said. "Because a lot of times we outplay teams and we don't find a way to win — we find the opposite."

George Lotito and Tim Coffman tallied consecutive goals in the last four minutes of the second period to put No. 9 Utica (9-4) ahead in the consolation game.

Babson (3-9) had scored twice earlier in the second to take a 2-1 lead.

Ridge Garbutt netted two power-play goals in the third, and Trever Hertz added a short-handed marker as the Pioneers pulled away. Evan Smith earned the win by stopping 21 shots.

Jay Haseley and Matt Leer scored for the Beavers.

Couple of things I noticed from the Cardinal Clasic results. First I think Castleton has come a long way as a new program in the D3 ECAC E. The program does have wins over Middlebury and Norwich in prior years but this weekend this is the most productive I have seen the team play. If the team gets a little more confidence and believes it can win in big game like Plattsburgh they could go a long way in the NCAA's this year. And it doesn't hurt to have one of the the best goalies in D3. However the way the Jensens are playing now I would rate Plattsburgh at the top of the rankings along with Norwich.

I know there hasn't been much talk of transfer's but it will be interesting to see if the top teams have any additions that could make a difference in the second part of the year. I know Plattsburgh has lost 2 players but don't know if they have anying D1 transfers to replace them.

They've been playing 10 years now. When do we drop the "new program" status?

Prez don't you think Castleton has come a long way in the years Coach Todd has been at Castleton. They have good talent and one of the best goaltenders around who could make the difference in any game. It is just nice to see another ECAC E school excel both in league play and against outside compeition. NEC used to highly compeitive in the East but it looks like they recruited the wrong players from Sweden-they should of got the Jensens that play for Plattsburgh.

They are certainly a good team. No debating that in the least. I just don't know why you're reffering to them as a new program. I guess in comparison to most of the ECAC East (outside of UNE) they can be considered "new". However, 10 years in, I think its time we drop the "new status".

They remind me a lot of Manhattanville honestly. Although Manhattanville has had a little bit more success winning league titles and up until the end of last year was on the national stage year in and year out.

If Castelton would play more 5 on 5 I would agree. They were outshot by an average of 20 shots this weekend, I'm not sure how "good" that makes them. Opportunistic? Absolutley! In the last 9 games versus Norwich, Plattsburgh, and Utica Castleton averages 9 penalties a game for 20 minutes. If they could cut that number in half, they probably wouldnt have gone 2-6-1 over that span.

I still stand by what I said
A disciplined Castleton team = NCAA worthy
The team who averages 20 minutes a game and gets outshot by 20+ a game = a spoiler team here and there

Castleton wouldn't have run out of gas had they not picked up 27 minutes in the box. They do not have the talent Oswego has to overcome the penalties against top teams, and even the Lakers are finding that hard lately. Harris, Lazorko, Bell are all very talented players..If they didnt have to kill off 20+ minutes of penalty kills a game imagine what you could/would see late in a game. Totally understand why Coach Todd says its fustrating, but enough is enough.
