Wouldn't that be something?

It will be interesting to see groups of RPI fans and Union fans cheering against each other at an AHL game rather than at the Field House or at Messa...

Kinkaid's departure, while a disappointment, highlights the success Nate Leaman has enjoyed at Union. The top DI programs are all dealing with this phenomenon of attracting top talent only to see some of that talent leaving after a year or two. It has to make the management of a top shelf team that much more difficult. RPI certainly survived what was originally thought to be two devastating departures. Union has a highly rated goalie on his way, who may very well establish himself as quickly as Kinkaid did. The Dutchmen have arrived...and with all the vissitudes of a premier program.

Just stopping by to leave a link to a story about the Providence College job. The story associated with the link I'm providing says Nate Leaman is a finalist for the PC job and has interviewed for it.

Seems like it shouldnt be hard to confirm if he was in fact on the campus. Unless there is a guy who looks just like him walking around. That said, it could also be a smoke screen to gain negotiating leverage with other candidates.

But the fact is if Union does not make a philosophical commitment to running a top notch, competitive D-1 program he will leave - either for Providence or somewhere else.

Btw, why would he leave to join Providence when he could take the Penn State job (assume) instead? I would think Penn State would be 10x more attractive, no?

I don't think anyone will be "taking" the PSU job. It certainly IS more attractive than the Providence job, and it will therefore attract a range of top-flight candidates, none of which will probably be an absolute slam-dunk.
If you don't change the world today, how can it be any better tomorrow?

Lets hope Union is smart enough to reward Rick Bennett and sign him on as the new HC before someone else does...

At this point, with the latest Providence rumors, the writing seems to be on the wall. It'd be a real surprise to Leaman still coaching Union next year. The price of success for a small program like Union.

Maybe another urinal and stall in the Men's can would help.

Well I hate to think in terms of Nate in the past tense, but I can only guess, and am hoping if Nate is leaving that Rick Bennett gets the nod. IMO he has been quietly instrumental in Union's recent success. I know the boys on the team like and respect him highly. This is quickly turning into the (off)season of our discontent.

hearing that there is a swing down in RI and it is now not as close to being done as thought. Heard Quinn is getting some late action from the school
