An RPI win tonight will remove Cornell from TUC and might knock Yale out of the top spot (at least temporarily). The Bulldogs will drop to 9 games vs TUC and without that criteria they start losing comparisons. With a loss they can fall as far as 4th.

However, depending on the outcome of other games, Yale could lose tonight and still remain #1 as Clarkson moves up to ~.5003 and becomes a TUC with a win. That would give Yale 10 games vs TUC and flip all those comparisons back.

        Simple math, indeed.

If St. Cloud beats Duluth (they are winning 3-2) then Merrimack is a 1 seed.

SiouxSports will be different because they break head to head ties by RPI, TBRW breaks them by comparison. Therefore, they will have Denver #4 and Merrimack #5. The NCAA has never made it clear how they break ties between two teams when the RPI and comparisons conflict (and it's never happened before).

Dartmouth and RPI are interchangeable in this bracket.

Ties broken by RPI. Not ideal with Wisconsin going east, but with North Dakota and Denver occupying #1's out west, nothing you could really do. If AHA champ is Air Force, send them to St. Louis, Wisconsin to Bridgeport, and Rensselaer to Manchester.

Technically, since the WCHA would get 5 teams in, the committee could keep Wisconsin west for an intra-conference game. That would be a blatant money grab.

For some reason, I thought it was one conference getting 6 teams in before that could occur (or if there was no way to prevent it from happening).

The precedent is to make the switch to avoid such a game even with five teams (2003) but the rule says they can do it.

I still dont see how Wisconsin doesn't end up in Green Bay for attendance purposes, but if they end up a 4, I guess the NCAA would have no choice to send them east if DU and UND hold the 1s.

                          Clarkson 0.4915
4 teams from the CCHA and 3 from the ECAC are within shouting distance of becoming TUC. Hockey East doesn't have a single team on either side of the line. Northeastern is almost .015 points away.

Given that I still haven't seen a definitive word on what actually breaks a tie between two teams, for the sake of this argument, I gave Merrimack the #1 seed over Denver and came up with endless possibilities. Focusing strictly on maximizing attendance and of course avoiding intra-conference matchups in the first round, I was able to come up with:

                              East:

                              1. Yale (1)
                              2. Union (7)
                              3. Notre Dame (12)
                              4. RIT (16)

                              Northeast:

                              1. Boston College (2)
                              2. Denver (5)
                              3. New Hampshire (9)
                              4. Dartmouth (13)

                              Midwest:

                              1. Merrimack (4)
                              2. Minnesota-Duluth (6)
                              3. Michigan (10)
                              4. Wisconsin (15)

                              West:

                              1. North Dakota (3)
                              2. Nebraska-Omaha (8)
                              3. Miami (11)
                              4. RPI (14)
