Just for reference on past discussions - a terrible turnover by Boyd that leads to a waived off goal as the period expires. A turnover that likely is never mentioned, if not for this post, even if the goal stood.
What would have been said if it had been Gildon, however...??
4-2 end of two.
Well, I think that Gildon's 5-minute major is worse.

I'm sure it will be much talked about! Already more so than Wyse's ejection...
He tried to hit him in the shoulders - which happens all the time - and the guy hunched over expecting the puck. Bad penalty. Tough break. Long D zone shift after two turned over clearing attempts by MacKinnon...
---
Expectations for Gildon are one thing - but post BU conversation (or CC last year) didn't reference expectations as much as they did lazy, unfocused, should play F, etc (certainly not from all)...
And as Neverret (who I definitely thought was 70+ after hearing his voice on Sox broadcasts) said midway through the third, "Does Gildon ever come off the ice??"
I agree. I missed the UMass visit to the Whitt, but after watching the game TV this afternoon, I think that UMass-Flagship is for real. I would not be at all surprised to see the Minutemen make the FF. I think the our Cats played well this weekend, despite only the 1 point.

Agree!

Personally Dan I think Max is obviously overworked and is such a vital part of that team. I saw him throw a couple of shoves (who doesn't out there) and I got the impression he was getting somewhat frustrated. Both announcers felt the wasn't provoked so if he missed the legal check, who knows. And if you want my honest opinion I was more perturbed at the Vela penalty... They (officials) can only call what they see not the intent. Anyway, he's no different that the flack that TyK, JvR, "fill in your own blank" of some of the great players UNH has had as far as board / fan criticism goes. He's a great competitor with tremendous upside and we need him desperately and that's all there is to it.
The bigger stars have to take more of the brunt just 'cause...they are that good. But they are human too and I'm sure Max didn't intend to put his team at a big disadvantage. I was proud of the PK team for killing that one off. Am looking forward to the Miami series! It will be nice to have the team home throughout the weekend. Hope everyone here has a great Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends. Let's go 'Cats!!
Ps I really liked Fregona's game today. Lots of hustle...getting to the net. More of that please!
Went to the game and thought UNH played fairly well for two periods but were outshot 20-5 to end the game. Had trouble with puck possession in the offensive end as well as getting it out of their own end, so generally nothing new. A good team like UMass really shows up their weaknesses. Tough to see where the Wildcats are going to get their scoring from.
Maybe they could make an good effort to stay out of the Penalty Box? Coach mentions this, that, and whatever but seems to ignore the glaring problem of dumb penalties.

Good point JAB. That certainly hurt them y'day!

Gildon was certainly provoked. While I saw it in Amherst, I watched it when I got home (yeah very sick) and he was cross checked in the back and knocked down and then pulled a stupid headshot retaliation that was either a missed shoulder shot or a really uncalled for headshot.
Was was irritating was that Jaffe and co. didn't see, asked for help from the truck and they didn't see it. It was plain as day. Certainly not condoning it but the full story was not relayed.
35 minutes of pretty good hockey, 25 of being a bit on our heels, but as noted we do need to score if we are going to win.

Hey I re-watch games all the time...Anyway...you could see he was visibly upset at certain periods of that game. So I'm not surprised if he just let them have it. Regardless, too bad the commentators made him look like this big bad whatever. No doubt he was targeted as all good players are. Wanna see some take downs of a darn good player?
