Just my two cents but BU is the better of those two teams. Really fast and good movement of the puck.

BG beating Western on Tuesday would help a lot, as would Tech beating UMD next weekend.
.500 is a good benchmark, but I don't think it means too much in the grand scheme of PWR. For example, I'll pick on Alaska and Huntsville, since they both went 0-2 this weekend. If those 2 teams go winless in non-conference, and then end up 9 and 10 in the WCHA, those non-conference losses don't really hurt too much. Basically, its ok if bottom teams lose some, because it is likely they will lose most of their games against conference opponents too. It would definitely be better, and help the conference if they won some non-conference games, but if they're as bad as they may be (way too early to know), then it is likely that their games won't even count towards better teams PWR, since by PWR rules, a win cannot lower your PWR, and if it does, it does not count towards the PWR total. Also, this only works if the bottom 1 or maybe 2 teams suck out of conference. A conference can survive 1 boat anchor (NCHC recently with CC, or Old WCHA with Tech/UAA), but if you have the bottom 4 teams going winless in non-conference, then you start to have a problem, because that begins to make up a large % of the schedule of the top teams, so top teams don't have the opportunities for impact wins.

What we really don't want are the top teams, based on preseason, Mankato, BG, Tech and NMU to go out and lose non-conference, and they go finish at the top of the conference. That would hurt the conference as a whole.

Basically, ideally, all teams do well in non-conference, but it is more important for the top teams to do well.
Having a clear conscience just means you have a bad memory or you had a boring weekend.

      RIP - Kirby

They do also have a new head coach who has literally never been a head coach in his life, so it'll be interesting to see if there's any jitters there. Can't take much from an exhibition.

Because I like looking at the whole body of work for each school rather than just some of the games. I also like to see if there is any correlation between playing exhibition games or not.

I would tend to agree with you, but both teams are incredibly talented.

BG knocks off WMU 6 - 2 on the road at Lawson Arena. SOG suggests that we were outplayed but the score says otherwise. Seriously, they got off very few clean shots and Bednard was stellar in net. A fun game to watch and worth the 14.95 that the NCHC charges to watch a single game.

The Grand Forks Herald is publishing a three part series on the the NCHC formation and the breakup of the old WCHA and CCHA.

                              Part 1.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

I can't really argue with the idea that McLeod needed to go when this went down...and a lot of the WCHA leadership should have turned over with this change...that might have saved the old WCHA.
