But let's be real...There are 40 some other teams and only two alaskan teams...the day one of us wins something big will be the day I transfer to UAA

overall, the refs seem to be doing a pretty good job overall in the tournament...probably easier to look at that objectively as an independent this time around...
I (and other referees) have seen things I don’t like but it’s likely things that go unnoticed by the masses but grind my gears a bit:
1 A bunch of fouls but no Persistent Infringement (PI). Most of the games have had big (15-20+ on one team) foul counts but no PI cautions and star players are suffering for it. If a player is being targeted it should be taken care of but it really hasn’t.
2. Holding in the Penalty Area on set pieces. Referees haven’t been calling it, VAR won’t correct it, and the players will keep doing it.

hard to argue with either point, but I haven't been watching closely enough to be upset about either. Since I'm basically watching at work, its hard to pay that much attention to the less "important" games. I wonder with the card accumulation there is some apprehension to issue cards in game 1 for PI? interesting to see if it ramps up or doesn't change.

with 15-20 fouls on team, if its relatively even between the 10 guys out there, is there still supposed to be a PI yellow card given to someone?
