Not sure how many BU has but with Orpik winning another, BC is now tied with Wisconsin for most Cup winners from NCAA.

          From GoTerriers.com

It marks the third straight year that a Terrier is on the Cup-winning team as head coach Mike Sullivan and Nick Bonino won back-to-back titles with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2016 and 2017. Chiasson becomes the ninth Terrier to hoist the Cup as a player or coach and it will be the 13th time a member of BU hockey family will have his name on the Cup. In addition to Bonino and Sullivan, Jay Pandolfo and Scott Young also won the Cup on two occasions.

The article doesn't state an objection to that, does it? It seems to suggest the exact opposite.

Wodon's article seemed to object more to the AD apparently not seriously considering candidates with NHL backgrounds and who might leave for the pros.

The problem with the argument is first, he provides no proof that those candidates were summarily dismissed and not interviewed. Second, the four main candidates he mentions in his argument - Sacco, Pandolfo, Hynes, and Donatelli - have a grand total of four years of collegiate coaching experience combined. Sacco and Pandolfo each have zero. Disregarding whether they'd bolt to the pros, having virtually no experience coaching at the collegiate level is a significant red flag. They have no recruiting experience and that's a major component of the collegiate job. It's not an unrealistic scenario where one of these candidates is hired, realizes he doesn't like to recruit and looks to move back to a pro job where he doesn't have to do that. The AD has to consider that.

And finally, I think the sentiment that the AD had wasn't let's not hire a coach who will *never* take an NHL job, instead let's hire someone who will have to be pried away by three different offers and $12.5 million by an Original 6 team. If the Bruins come calling for the Albie, or whoever, offering that kind of money, tip your cap and wish him well. If the Coyotes come calling offering 3 years and $5 million, that's a different story. You don't want a coach who anxiously awaits each open NHL job every summer.

                Ruh-Roh.

Ryan O'Connell has changed his commitment this fall to the Buckeyes. This one is more concerning than Josh Lawrence IMHO, since as I posted, he is still going the NCAA route, just not at BU.

If fabbro returns would this dude have played? Guess it was between Switzer and Ryan Seven Rounder...

Hugo Blixt, who Denver also recruited, is the incoming freshman most likely to grab a regular spot on defense, along with Fabbro, Krys, Farrance, Kotkansalo and Crotty.

You can't fault Ryan O'Connell with going somewhere that will give him more playing time. Just nice to have the depth so it is a loss there.

So are we confident that Farrance is coming back? Wasn't he picked up in the late rounds of the USHL draft, and some speculated that might mean he has been told he needs more development? I hope he is back, he really came on at the end of the year. I'm sure he could improve in some areas of his game, but his skating is such an asset.

Most likely because at best he'd be sixth on the depth chart here with Fabbro apparently back. He'd be fighting for that last spot with Switzer and the other two D. With him gone, and including Fabbro, we still have 8 D on the roster. If Ohio State offered him a more or less guaranteed every day spot on their team, not unreasonable to go take it.

Based on Farrance's presence with most of his teammates at Albie's intro, I'm confident he's returning. I think he could blossom next year given additional responsibilities (esp. on the PP). Still needs a lot of work in his own end, but the talent is clearly there.
