So... on November 9 and 10, Cornell will playing NMU in Marquette.

I have never been to the UP, and obviously I have never met any of you UP fans personally.

Assuming I go... any chance of an East Meets West get together at/after the games? I figure if I start canvassing now I might even be able to con, er, persuade some of the other Lynah Faithful here to make a once in-a-lifetime hockey pilgrimage.

I'm actually fairly excited to go (I like cold and barren), but almost as much for the social element as the hockey.

It would actually be fun, even to make the drive to the stinking bowels of Marquette, for such a meet, but (speaking of which) I'll be tiptoeing around the slopes of Kilauea that week. If it's still there.

Of course NMU does... Please don't confuse us with that other U.P. school 90 miles West/North

I was actually thinking about the return trip next year Kep. Cornell seems like it'd be a fun trip that doesn't come around often. MQT is a fun place and at least a few people that will hang out and talk hockey. I'd recommend going, but I'm also a bit biased

Well, I know that the 4 (?) breweries in Marquette are solid. Ore Dock was my favorite. Houghton (home of Mich Tech) is about 90 minutes north, if you want to take a morning/afternoon trip up there before the night game. I'm more knowledgeable for that area.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

Nah, Ithaca itself is brutally boring in the winter like most of Upstate NY. In the summer it's, well, gorgeous. The Cornell is campus is great in the fall and the summer. Lynah Herself, well, she is an acquired taste, but I think a game there is a must see for every college hockey fan. Just skip it in the first few weeks of January when the students are away and it is dead.

The weather in the late fall and early spring is rhapsodically sh-tty: cold drizzles and leaden, soul-destroying skies for weeks on end. And the students... welp, the undergrads are from the northeast so they're whiny and both physically and morally unattractive, and the grad students all appear to be from Taiwan and on their way somewhere to make a billion dollars in an awful hurry.

Was on campus briefly one summer. Gorgeous place then, as you say, but what do they do when it gets icy or snow-slick?? That hill must thin the herd a little.
