    Actually, MN was admitted into statehood on May 11, not May 17, in 1858. But thanks for the effort!

    The 11th was an option. I was a planned cesarean, so my parents had options. The 11th and 15th weren't chosen because I would be sharing my birthday with my uncle or my father. My mother was determined that I would not share my birthday. The 17th it was.
