Colbert had a piece on Cohen's incredibly public bribery on Wednesday. You almost have to admire the guy -- he was basically running full scale ads in neon letters selling pay for play.

I am certain every sincere conservative will express their outrage and call for Dump's resignation and prosecution pronto. I mean, they couldn't be hypocrites, could they?

It’s like when Clinton was president, guiliani said he had to testify if subpoenaed. But now when trump is president, he’s changed his tune and said the president doesn’t have to comply.

Only one side is hypocritical, that is certain. How can people continue to support the two party disaster we have right now? We need to get on with developing something better.

They're also 100% wrong on Uranium One and they still chant "lock her up" every chance they get while they have nothing on her. Meanwhile we have things on Trump and all his cronies and they want us to end the investigation. Interestingly enough the Watergate Tapes were not found until 9 months or so after Nixon insisted the investigation was to be stopped.

                    This story is pretty amazing.

Donald Trump headlined yet another campaign rally last night, this time in Elkhart, Indiana, where the president hopes to rally Republican support to defeat Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.). And while Trump covered quite a bit of ground at the event, his economic message stood out as … odd.

Embracing the role of party leader, President Donald Trump issued a stern warning Thursday that Democrats would disrupt the economic progress of his administration as he implored fellow Republicans to mobilize behind a slate of Indiana candidates.

Trump used one of his signature rallies in northern Indiana to paint a rosy picture of his presidency, pointing to low unemployment, “booming” job growth and optimism under his watch.

Democrats, he said, will “destroy your jobs.”

To be sure, this is standard political rhetoric that wouldn’t be especially notable – were it not for the location in which Trump made the comments, which turned out to be more interesting than the comments themselves.

As regular readers may recall, Elkhart took on special political significance in recent years, thanks in large part to multiple visits from Barack Obama. In 2009, the president spoke to NBC’s Chuck Todd before an event in the community, and Todd asked if it’d be “fair” to use the city as a case study – if what happened to Elkhart in the Obama era could credibly represent the success or failure of the White House’s economic agenda.

                    “Absolutely,” the president replied.

In the months that followed, MSNBC created an online venture called “The Elkhart Project,” monitoring the city’s progress as Obama’s policies started to take effect. In the years that followed, the area’s unemployment rate went from one of the nation’s worst to one of the nation’s best.

Indeed, Elkhart’s turnaround was nothing short of amazing. At the height of the Great Recession, the mid-sized city, just east of South Bend, was devastated, with an unemployment rate that topped 20%. Under President Obama, however, Elkhart boomed and its jobless rate fell below 4%.

                    It’s now less than 3%.

As it turns out, Elkhart tends to be a pretty conservative area, and by and large, locals haven’t been eager to give Obama credit for the area’s turnaround.

Ike didn't have the ego to supercede Washington. Reagan and Clinton certainly did, but Reagan was already a doddering, drooling doorstop in 86, let alone 88, so he'd have had to be wheeled off to the Old Frauds' Home. Obama I am guessing would have started out wanting to step down but when he saw Dump as a threat would have stayed on and beaten him in about 40 states.

So let's say for simplicity everything's the same until 00:

00 Clinton. No 9/11 happens because the government is competent and paying attention.
04 Some hapless Republican, let's assume Dubya. The Great Recession still happens since Clinton hasn't hemmed in the Plutes.
                            08 Obama
                            12 Obama
                            16 Obama

And things are humming along with the Obama recovery right now but Mitch and Paul are happily thwarting his every action. The GOP dodged a bullet with Dump failing in 2016 but now an even more extreme racist and anti-Semite is building strength for 2020, perhaps with strong Dominionist overtones.

It’s not the quality of the sides as much as it is the system itself. Can’t we all agree someone like Trump should never come close to winning the presidency? Beyond that look at the the quagmire we are in financially. If we keep doing the same things we can’t expect different results.
