Obama I am guessing would have started out wanting to step down but when he saw Dump as a threat would have stayed on and beaten him in about 40 states.

So let's say for simplicity everything's the same until 00:

00 Clinton. No 9/11 happens because the government is competent and paying attention.
04 Some hapless Republican, let's assume Dubya. The Great Recession still happens since Clinton hasn't hemmed in the Plutes.
    08 Obama
    12 Obama
    16 Obama

And things are humming along with the Obama recovery right now but Mitch and Paul are happily thwarting his every action. The GOP dodged a bullet with Dump failing in 2016 but now an even more extreme racist and anti-Semite is building strength for 2020, perhaps with strong Dominionist overtones.
I'm not so sure about Slick in 00. He had a scandal behind him. However, the man knew his electorate and probably could have charmed his way to 12 years. However he would have been out in 04. GWB would not have run in 04 as the 00 loser. So, let's for fun sake throw Mitt in the mix. Mitt v Al-Gore(??) in 04?

if all y'all are playing make believe, you have to realize that jeb is the most likely bush to be elected on tape delay here.

    maybe.

if someone other than 41 is there, what are the odds that saddam is left in place after kuwait? mookie is pretty sure that H.W. is the ONLY person who doesn't finish that job. anyone else continues into iraq (though that may be hindsight being 20/20 now by mookie). couldn't another puppet be put in place to buffer against the iranians then?

GWB was roundly applauded for not getting us into a meat grinder by invading Iraq after Oil War 1. Other than the handful of neocon morons who finally did get their pretext later I can't think of any US president who would have made that mistake.

No 9/11, stable Middle East with a counterweight against Iran, no spread of Russian influence, no Dump Belch. Pretty good world.

    Thanks a lot, Katherine Harris.

Russia then is not Russia now. Can’t see them filling that void.

And while messy, driving up Baghdad highway wouldn’t have had the IED minefield that occurred 15yrs later.

But.... mookie’s point was stopping was a kinda new step. Sure, H.W. Could recall leaving the emperor in Japan... but everyone else who lost was removed.

Plus wasn’t OBL gonna happen anyway after the US set up camp in KSA? Some form or other anyhows.

I thought about that, but Jeb! has not acquitted himself well in campaigning on a national scale.

    Maybe it's Bush hangover?

Is this what Trump meant by "draining the swamp"?
A top State Department nuclear expert announced his resignation following Trump's Iran deal decision. The office he led at State, on Iran nuclear implementation, has now gone from 7 to 0 staffers.

    Outright spying?
    Stumbling? Sure.
    Ham-fisted. Sure.

    But outright spying?
I need more than innuendo like "I believe I know the name of the informant, but my intelligence sources did not provide it to me and refuse to confirm it. It would therefore be irresponsible to publish it."

it's almost like they want Iran to start building a bomb, just so they can wage war on them.
