I will say I'd be okay with CA splitting up. Not for political reasons, but simply for nutjob reasons. That state is a different breed, and definite differences. Also see: CO.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

You could say the same thing about every state in the country.

It's probably a good idea to have states that combine ideological and other characteristics. Monolithic states give us extremists who refuse to work with anybody.

It would be better to start combining states rather than break them up.

CO is (unsuccessfully) toying with the idea because of rural/urban differences. The rurals feel the urbans are not giving the rurals what they need in the government. I guess it's a REALLY sharp divide out there.

The rubes always want to secede from The Big City. There's a movement like that in every state in the country.

They hilarious part of this is they are always conservacranks, and their envisioned state would be completely dependent on federal aid.

It's the same divide in Minnesota. It's the same everywhere.

I don't see other states looking into the possibility of splitting up.....

Probably because Colorado has only recently shifted blue and California had a ridiculously easy referendum process. Most states don't have the latter and haven't yet shifted from red to blue.

There have been talks of the UP breaking off every now and again, but nothing serious in decades. Now that mining and timber are no longer prominent industries it'll never happen.

Eastern (thanks, SJ) OR always wants to run away from those Feminazi F-ggots in Portland.

It's the same everywhere. Mister Rugged In-duh-vidualist has a few extra Bud Lites and gets up on his soap box, then has to wait in the welfare line with a hangover.

CO is not toying with the idea of splitting up, that is complete rubbish. There are a few nutbars in the NE corner that want to "secede", there is zero chance of it happening.
