After following due process and presumed innocent and not guilty etc. Yes. IMO, dad is guilty. However, even IF we had the gun owner law in place, he still would need to stand trial.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

Well, yes, sure, in an ideal world.

Noticing changes and behaviors by authority figures and whatever other co-students and reporting that or looking into it would help, too.

And then there is Scooby is who is willing to ignore Constitutional rights (and not talking 2nd Amendment), which makes him a complete hypocrite.

And somehow the cowards in congress should continue breathing? No thanks. Those who refuse to even try to do something about the carnage can all drop dead right now and burn for an eternity in Hell.

You and I think he's guilty. That's a common though. But we don't have all the facts yet. He must go through due process. You say he should be in jail now, no questions asked. I think he should be put through a trial, and judged based on evidence. If he didn't have the guns secured? Then yes, guilty. If the kid somehow got through all the safe and responsible measures? Then not guilty.

You are quick to judge, which is exactly the behaviors you rant against. Therefore, hypocrite. Own it, keep quiet, or adjust the attitude.

Edit: you can pending a hearing, but with current laws, the dad is in the clear. Something that I JUST MENTIONED, about the gun owner law, needs to be changed.

Kid got Dad's guns. That's all we know right now.

IF Kid got Dad's guns out of the dresser/nightstand/etc, ok there's a charge.
IF Kid got Dad's guns out of the safe because Kid broke into said safe, no charge.

We don't have the full details right now, yet you say "Dad should be in jail." That is not due process.

Now, does that include holding time?

Mind you, I think that many in prison don't deserve to be; over-sentencing, prefer probation for minor crimes, etc. It's a known problem in this country. Would like clarification on that statistic.

You'll find the US doesn't keep figures for this because it has a habit of not keeping data on areas where it is breathtakingly incompentent.

Estimates are that 500k of the US 2.2million prisoners are "pre-trial", i.e not convicted.

Of these around 20% will be acquitted, so at any time the US imprisons 100k innocent people.

Of the others all are legally presumed innocent.

This figure of around 20% of detainees being pre trial is double to most comparable countries (UK is second at 13%)
So yeah, lock him up pending trial.

Ok, thank you. So, "pending trial" means they have not been judged. The stat is somewhat misleading. Still a disturbing fact, given the raw numbers.
