Not that simple .. see weak non-conference wins by Hockey East NE and PC. They finished 2nd and 3rd behind BC and Did not win tourney.

Also what’s up with selecting Penn State? They had a losing conference record. A Big Ten team last won the NCAA Championship in 2007. The apparent reason for their conference was to get more teams in the NCAAs.
As others have said: Simple math. Every school has math geeks who can demonstrate all kinds of scenarios about the "best" way to get to the NCAA's based on the published and followed rules. It is up to each team to decide which scenario makes the most sense to them.

But make sure the OOC games are weaker opponents like Northeastern and Providence did. BC must schedule AC

Let’s make this clear. The beef is not the tournament winner. It’s letting teams not the winner and below #1 conference winner going instead. Also a team with a losing conference record and not the tournament winner. Should not get selected.

The mental gymnastics you go through must be exhausting. Not to mention the math gymnastics!

Yes. Yes I would. Make it nachos and you've got a deal.

I'm surprised this thread has gone as far as it has without mentioning that BC hasn't won a game out of conference since November 2016.
I was formerly a tasty 7-11 beverage. Now I'm a fan of defunct hockey teams.

As a BC fan, no, they didn't get screwed. But i also don't think the PWR is a perfect system. Not sure if there really is one though.

They are trying to rectify that going forward. Bentley and Arizona State on the schedule next year

It’s the worst system, except for all of the others.

Sure, whatever systems you're referring to. I just think there could be tweaks made to improve it.

Come on folks. Penn State this year went with a losing conference record! Also last year BEMIDJI STATE finished at top of WHCA conference by TEN POINTS and was passed over. That’s part of the point of conference records seeming to mean nothing vs. non-conference games.

System needs some tweaks. BEMIDJI STATE FINISHED TOP OF WCHA BY TEN POINTS last year and was passed over.
