It is now the second largest. I doubt that it will make it to number one which it still trails by almost $10M.

The NHL isn't done yet. Most, if not every team has a signed Jersey with "Broncos" on the back that will be auctioned. Will that generate the $10 mil? Doubt it. But it's not done yet.

2 days until they close the gofundme, per Humboldt Broncos president in statement today.

They are opening a separate fund to accept further donations beyond that, but the gofundme will be closed end of Wednesday.

The semi driver pleaded guilty to all counts. He said he didn't want a trial to put the families through any more than they've already been through.
He seemed and looked pretty sorry but how much of the blame is his?
According to reports the stop sign was partially obscured by trees and this same intersection had a six person fatality back in '97 and should have been red flagged back then as exceptionally dangerous by the Saskatchewan highway department and given every safety upgrade as they became available so I see a major fail on Canada's part!
Why no stop light instead of just signs? Was anything changed after the 1997 fatalities? Don't they have annual inspections up there to make sure all signage is in place and unobscured?
At the least it should have been within the past several years upgraded to LED flashing stop signs which are powered by solar recharging battery packs.
Seems something really slipped through the cracks on this one!

There is a flashing red light mounted atop the stop signs for the east/west road. SK-35 (N/S route) has right of way over the crossing county highway (E/W).

                            Google Maps

Upon re-looking at the aerial crash photo (crash scene was in N-W corner), I think it was a combination of both the truck driver not completely stopping (probably slowed, looked both ways, and kept going) and the bus driver not slowing in time (the front of the bus is where the impact was, and the trailers load is scattered as if the bus hit the center of the trailer). The momentum of the WB truck carried the collision into the NW quadrant of the intersection.

The truck driver is taking 100% of the blame because we'll never know what the bus driver did or didn't see.
