    Couple things. Ryan said that tax income was rising from last year. Its not its falling. Second, the tax shortfall increased from the first half of the period (Q4 17) to the second half (Q1 18). Things are getting worse. Third, your comment about capital write offs in the first quarter is irrelevant. These are year over year comparisons...so seasonality is taken out of the equation. All of this speaks against what Ryan said and against increased tax revenues from the corporate sector.

        Regarding Paul Ryan's comments, I'd take a look at the context of what he's stating, because it seems like he's referring to the economic excitement that happened in 2017 as a result of Trump getting into office, while you're looking at a comparison between Q4 2017 and Q1 2018, so you're comparing apples to oranges.

        With your second point, once again, you're merely looking at things in a vacuum, and using short-term as the be all end all because it fits your doom-and-gloom narrative. Are nominal revenues going to show an immediate decline when you have a rate decrease? Absolutely. Anyone who has a basic understanding of mathematics is going to understand that one. The people who called for the rate cuts understood this. They knew it was going to be something that happens. So to say people lied because you set the goalposts at the point of the rate decrease is dishonest and reprehensible.

        Thirdly, you're once again comparing apples to oranges regarding what I stated about capital expenditures. A rate decrease is done by a government in order to promote growth in a particular sector. In this case, business and industry. With the corporate cuts, I would look more closely to how small-to-mid-market businesses are expanding, and entrepreneurs are seeking to start businesses. That's the real direct growth that you're going to see, and revenues will naturally come as a part of it.
