The US Women's Curling team just made it to the bronze medal game in the World Championships this past weekend.

Of course, the team that played last weekend was based out of the St. Paul Curling Club, not the McFarland based team that was "embarrassed" at the Olympics.

Mark it on the calendar Tim is right!
Womens hockey is more skilled and well played because they cannot make up for sloppiness through brutality. It is a beautiful game, particularly when played at the level your Badgers can play at.

Definitely fun to watch. I generally like LaBahn viewing angles, but the concessions issues on sell-outs and the inability to add more seats, press area, etc. were really short sighted, IMO, especially since they are redoing the SERF right now. Just pi** poor planning.

I will say the speed in men's is a big difference, but there is less clutching and grabbing and generally a nice flow to the women's games.

Yeah with all the b16$/football$ Barry had to cheap the thing out, what a short sighted move on his part. With the SERF getting replaced, they could have just add onto the north end and have the seats go all the way around.

yep and take the seats up higher there on the Badgers offensive end for 2 periods. And extend press row around to the north as well. Add another 400 seats or so and add some concessions under those new north seats. Then extend towards the Kohl Center to have the US hockey displays and a third concession stand. Seems idiotic when they are selling out just about every game.

Maybe someone can explain how a player can play in a pro league without losing their eligibility.
Rather than call her Pocahontas, she should be called “Two Percent” given she is at best less than 2% Native American

If I recall, she was able to get an exemption because she did not accept any money to play.

    so ....
a player joins the CWHL to get a year of seasoning to prepare her for the NCAA
then presumably play well enough to what? get drafted by a "pro" league whose main purpose is to .... prepare players to play in the NCAA?

I think the situation is a fluky one. If we knew why she didn't come last year, I'm sure it would make sense. What else was she to do, just sit out? I certainly don't think this will be a trend, though Clarkson kinda does it already.

She could have enrolled in one of the CEGEP Quebec colleges. And another cheap shot taken at Clarkson. Never seen someone so jealous over the Knights 3 championships.

Jealous...haha. UW has more NCAA's and always will (yes, those are fightin words). I just like poking the tiger once and awhile, look at it as a compliment. Clarkson is a force and is set to be so for a long time. I do regret rooting for you against the rodents in 2017. The rodents had given UW a hard time and UW swept Clarkson that year @ Clarkson, so I rooted for the Knights. I'm just thankful it's Clarkson and not BC.

Here’s the thing, Wisco do the same with their recruits maybe on an even more frequent basis but it is not talked about. I believe Emily Clark was held back a year although not sure about that. They did it with Shirley last year and there are likely very valid reasons for doing so but this practice is not isolated to Clarkson. There are very few French speaking players leaving CÉGEP in Quebec to make their way to the US to play. They prefer staying closer to home and Clarkson has become an interesting option for some but not many. I have no issues with this practice as long as rules are being followed. It makes for a better product on the ice and we saw excellent hockey at the Frozen Four so something is working.

Both the Canadian Olympic team and the Badger's have had "Drive for Five" campaigns in the past couple of years or so. Methinks they need a new slogan. How about, "Let's just try to do better next time."
It would be kind of funny if Clarkson did beat the Badgers to five. Not that I'd want that or anything, because it would not bode well for my favorite cute little rodent's team.

Clark was born on Nov 28, 1995. Her first season at Wisconsin was the 2014-2015 season. That means she turned 19 in the middle of her freshman year. In my experience, that is utterly usual, whether the freshman in question plays hockey or not.

As for Shirley and her NCAA eligibility, this article describes the process and restrictions, etc. It is the same thing that allows male players to play for teams like (the only two I can name) the Green Bay Gamblers and the Madison Capitals while retaining NCAA eligibility. Also how NCAA baseball players can play in the 'summer leagues' and retain eligibility.

She could have taken classes at UM-Madison similar to what Amy Potomak did, and take a redshirt. They ARE student athletes are they not?

BTW, Sarah Potomak, a true freshman, ended your season and put BC down 1 with how many seconds elapsed in the championship game? 13 I think it was
    I'll spare you the video.

I hope you have that bookmarked, because you are going to have to refer to that for at least the next four years
