The hockey banquet was held tonight in the University Club at the Bank. Rand was not there as he's with the US U18 team in Russia so Bill Riga took the reins and did a fabulous job.
The 5 seniors (MacMaster, McKernan, Smith, Pieper, and Duane) were honored as was John Furgele who is leaving the program and school. He will be graduating in May (a year early) and has eligibility problems (only would have been able to play half a season next year. Supposedly is going to Portland, Maine to play pro hockey.
MVP: Chase Priske
Rookie of the Year: Odeen Tufto
Coaches Award: Kevin Duane
7th Player: Alex Whelan
Academic Award: John Furgele & Bo Pieper
Chase Priske will return as captain with Scott Davidson as an assistant. A second assistant will likely be named at the start of next season.
Next year will start with an exhibition against Prince Edward Island. The non conference schedule includes:

Talk about a weak non conference schedule outside of BC and BU and possibly UMass and Maine depending on if those 2 live up to expectations. Vermont, AIC, UConn and Holy Cross do nothing for me. They better clean up with this schedule and the conference schedule because the pairwise ain't going to so any favors with this schedule.

I don't think it will be too bad. After all, the PWR has been tweaked to the point where cupcake wins are as good as wins over powerhouse teams (and cupcake losses are devastating as we learned first hand). Look at Cornell this past season. The key is to win the games you're suppose to win. Plus, the schedule doesn't happen overnight and commitments are made 1-3 years out.
