34 regular season games....The B7 is so freaking tough, n/c looks tough, BC, Sue, DU Clarkson/St. L & Tech, can they get to .500? Do they have the talent to get to .500?

    Unknown in goal...

    D
    4 starting returning
    2 spot start returning
2 highly touted but young fr
    1 experienced fr

    F
    tier 1
    Malone
    Weissbach
    Ranta

    tier 2
    Baker
    Johnson
    Freyteg
    Dhoogie

.500 will be it I am afraid to say, though I have no idea about the departures of the other B7 teams, I could be swayed over .500.

How are you gonna do Tarek Baker like that... he’s tier 1 all the way, especially when you have Weissbach tier 1.

Side note: mother was going through some old boxes yesterday and she found a booklet of the 1982-83 badgers. She has Jim and John Johannson’s signatures in it.

Hey, I'm all for Baker being a tier 1 player. It isn't like a I spent 8 hours crunching the numbers or anything, just a gut feeling. My gut's been proven wrong before. More telling is the fact that you don't think I missed anyone else.

Haha, I just have a big soft spot for Baker. That’s all

I think our tier 1 forwards are coming next year. I believe Caufield and Turcotte? Gorniak for this year is supposed to be a good one.

It's hard to not have a soft spot for Baker, a hometown guy who bailed on the rodents.

Gorniak is very interesting, my viewpoint on him was probably a little skewed by the Brad Navin deal where he came straight WI HS and never really got traction as an offensive player. Gorniak absolutely killed it in the NHL combine, which surely tells me I undervalued is talent due to playing hockey in WI HS. I can't argue against calling him a tier 1 guy. (I do believe Navin was a 7th rounder for Buffalo for the record?)

I think “at least a little better than Navin” is a fair assessment. We will have to see what the kid can do.

I was watching a little of Mike Valley on twitter today, I had no idea he had become such a Goalie Guru. I think BA needs to open up the purses and make it so Mike can just stay in Madison full time, no offense to Jeff Sanger. In looking at his LinkedIn page he has quite the number of things going on, but at this point looks to be a free agent but from not employing himself.

I saw that as well; I was impressed. I agree with you on trying to land him full time, if that's possible. What has Sanger done that has improved the position or getting quality 'tendies? Here's a link to a story earlier this year. 2 familiar faces with him!

Valley was good for the year he was here. Wish we could get him back. Problem is it's a volunteer position and he runs goalie camps which are considered contact with recruits by the NCAA. No offense to Sanger, but I just don't see the development in the tenders. NCAA should make a third paid assistant position.

BA can make up a position for Valley, "Special Assistant to the AD", pay him a bunch of money, then have him volunteer coach the goalies.

In Badger social news, MrsMCR watches "Cristley Knows Best" and told me Nic Kerdiles is dating the daughter, Savannah. (She knows who Nic is, but I have no idea where she heard it)

I looked her up; GOOD FOR HIM!

He better focus on the puck and not get distracted by all the peripheral things associated with TV. He needs to get to the big club sooner than later or the window will close.

MADISON, Wis. — The heated pool is already full for a 7 a.m. aerobics class with more than a dozen attendees, none of whom look younger than 70, when Ryan Suter walks by, offering a tour of the rehab facility that now occupies his summer mornings.

“Those are my new friends,” Suter jokes.

For the past six weeks, Suter has been a regular in the morning class and a favorite of the retirees in it who like to ask about his four children and life in the NHL. But on this Monday, Suter has a rehab graduation of sorts, no longer subjected to the water work as he progresses from a broken leg and ankle so severe that it’s typically only found in high-speed car accidents.

That injury suffered on a fluke play behind the net on the last day of March has left Suter — a man that’s always on the move — limited. He generally keeps so busy in the offseason that he jokes to teammates that his real offseason starts when training camp begins.
