BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers, proud AHL affiliate of the New York Islanders, announced today that former Yale star Ryan Hitchcock has agreed to terms on a two-year American Hockey League deal.

Hitchcock, 22, signed an amateur tryout contract (ATO) with the Sound Tigers on Mar. 8 and collected nine points (three goals, six assists) in 16 pro games to end last season. He recorded a three-point night in just his second game on Mar. 15 against the Rochester Americans and scored his first pro goal on Mar. 25 against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The final gathering of the 2017-18 Yale men's hockey team was the team banquet that honors the graduating class while also serving as the event to hand out individual awards. That's what happened tonight at The Course at Yale.

Chris Brooks '06, the third-year president of the Yale Hockey Association, served as master of ceremonies, while getting help in presenting awards from a few other former Bulldog skaters.

Large framed jerseys worn by John Baiocco, Henry Hart, Ryan Hitchcock,.Adam Larkin and Nate Repensky were lined up against the wall as the perfect venue decoration for the event that players, coaches and alumni look forward to each year.

The Murray Murdoch Award as team MVP went to junior forward Joe Snively, who earned All-ECAC and All-Ivy honors after recording 36 points in 31 games.

Hitchcock, who just signed a two-year deal with the AHL Bridgeport Sound Tigers, grabbed the Malcolm Chace Award for sportsmanship, spirit and ability. He played in all 31 games last winter while collecting 20 points.

Larkin took home both the John Poinier Award for the best defensive player and the Yale Hockey Coaches Award, which is for determination, desire, morale and spirit. The defenseman signed an ATO deal with the Adirondack Thunder and skated in the ECHL right after the Yale season came to an end in the conference quarterfinals.

Anthony Walsh, the captain of the 2018-19 Elis, was the recipient of the David C. Noyes III Award for inspiration. He played all 31 games on defense last season and spoke to the audience tonight about his hopes for next year.

There were numerous outstanding rookie performances in 2017-18, but only one of the newcomers could get the Martin Dwyer III Award as the MVP. That went to forward Kevin O'Neil, who had seven goals and 11 points and scored the winner at home against Harvard in the regular season finale.

The award for being the top student-athlete on the squad, a.k.a. the Edward M. Wright Award, went to sophomore blueliner Billy Sweezey. He carried a 3.53 GPA while playing in all but one game this season. Sweezey netted 10 points including a goal in a home win over Quinnipiac.

The Virginia Hird Award, which is presented by the Yale Hockey Association to the individuals directly or indirectly related to the hockey program for outstanding contributions, was handed out tonight to long-time athletics administrative assistant Nadine Logan, a beloved second mother to many a Yale Hockey player over the last 20 years.

Here are all the awards handed out at the banquet.
