LOL - twitter (Mark Divver) reporting White changes his mind and will stay with Winnipeg. So they waited and waited only to be stood up...
And now two months after the season ended they're starting over. So much for 'definitely wanting to move quickly for recruiting purposes'...Last edited by Dan; 05-23-2018, 09:57 AM.Live Free or Die!!

Thank you for your continuous efforts in making me aware of the hard and fast pecking order!

The process didn’t work as hoped, but the result is the critical thing. Go back and get a known salesman.
As yesterday shows, we already have good enough connections to nab the Malden/Austin Prep kids. We need deeper connections elsewhere.
Sox wanted Billy Bean in 2002 and had to settle for Theo. Two months is not a major delay, so now get it done rightLast edited by NCAA watcher; 05-23-2018, 12:07 PM.The Souza record:

I wouldn't have liked a White hire - I may or may not like who they end up hiring - but that is not incongruent with the idea that Souza should be moving quickly and urgently on whoever he thinks is the right guy. Or that his guy should be eager and committed immediately. That has been my point all along...
As I said before, when White decided he needed more time to be around for the Cup run or to make his decision or whatever. He should have been told, no hard feelings, you're not the right guy at the right time and we're moving on...
Is there a second candidate ready to step in and accept the job or does the search reset and we're looking at another four weeks (and nearly an entire summer lost)? Whoever the next guy is (and he really should have the name he wants) it should happen ASAP - because the program needs a third assistant, during the summer recruiting period...
Yes, hopefully (and maybe) they will end up with the right guy and a great assistant. But the process to date...Last edited by Dan; 05-23-2018, 12:33 PM.Live Free or Die!!

No big loss. Just makes his old buddy Souza look a little silly, that's all.
Agree with 'Watcher. If the second dip in the assistant's pool - this time not clouded by the buddy-buddy issue - nets the guy who gives this program a much-needed boot in the arse, then it will have been worth it. Seems like Mike and Stu were doing pretty well without MW (and DU) anyway.
And if this pushes Souza off his buddy-buddy mindset for the future, all the better.

MacKinnon is a nice, physical, stay-at-home defenseman who fell in their lap when it didn’t work out with another school. The key quote from his profile on C-H-C’s blog was regarding UNH having a need and ‘the means to fill that need’. Meaning, they were one of the only schools left with money he wanted…
Engaras is a mystery who seems to have some real skill from Europe. If there have been any real positive developments in terms of recruiting this summer, it’s a continued willingness to go to Europe and to move on 18 year olds immediately. But they need to start moving some real volume if they want to make a difference for the future. Just a handful of high-skill recruits will put us in the exact same position we’ve been in for the last five years. They need to start adding ‘many’ of this type and a third recruiter would be very helpful to doing so during, this, the busiest recruiting period of the year…
Curran put up a lot of points at the 16U level – playing the entire season at 16.5-17 years old (he turned 17 in January). He is a wait and see what he does in Jr hockey type. We’ll see. If I was guessing right now, I’d hope he can be a Nazarian type of producer (21 G, 51 P in three seasons)…
Last few weeks were a good start, not a solution. Much more work to do.Last edited by Dan; 05-23-2018, 04:04 PM.Live Free or Die!!
