you can bet if he could have got his hands on a gun, he would have. and then it would be more than just the one person dead.
What kind of cheese are you planning to put on top?

You and Priceless should go talk to her friends and family, bet you would make them feel much better.

That's why Stand your ground is soo bad. You do not commit murder if you feel threatened. Therefore, the goal when you just don't know whether the other guy is armed...escalate and shoot them as soon as possible. It takes the dangerous situation that guns create and incentives you to use them as soon as there's an altercation.

What do you mean Stand Your Ground laws are bad? Why it's positively un-manlike to retreat. The worst thing in the world a man can do is to show any type of anything that anyone at all may perceive as any kind of weakness. And retreat is the height of weakness. And if someone thinks you're weak they might think, heaven forbid, that you're...... GAY????? Never mind that your own family may prefer you come home alive, you don't get arrested, and you don't bankrupt the family having to defend yourself against charges, if you back down the neighbor 4 houses down might think you like dudes, and killing someone in an argument over how loud a car stereo is the only manly thing to do.

WTeff are you babbling about?! Seriously. And rufus, I ain't Republican. I want no part of any party. I lean conservative, but do have liberal views. Neither of the main 2 parties show enough to me to commit to them.

I *wish* we were all mature enough to verbally have it out, obviously that's not the case. So, wish we could just duke it out, and be done with it. Nope. It's "gonna get my gun and shoot you." Or (and I think this is kinda obvious in the Waffle House case) we're so mentally effed up, we just start a-shootin'. I can't imagine a mentally balanced person, no matter how hell-bent, shows up basically nude at a greasy spoon and shoots people.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

If the guy had a gun she'd still be dead, but dozens of other families would need consoling as well. The more the merrier, right?

The big issue is the mentally ill (who usually buy these guns legally) can easily obtain them after a pitiful background check. It’s unlikely these nuts would know how/where to obtain a black market AR-15, so regulations would probably help.

                  • So we're all armed with the facts on the Waffle House shooting kid:
                    - Jumped the White House fence in 2017.
                    - Was investigated by the FBI and the State of Illinois.
                    - Had his FOID card revoked by the State of Illinois, his residence.
                    - His old man promised investigators that the weapons confiscated by the FBI/SoI would not be given back to the kid if the old man could keep them.
                    - Same weapons confiscated were used in the Waffle House shooting. The old man admits giving them to his kid, against the FBI/SoI ruling; that's unlawful carry by the kid within the State of Illinois.

But yes, let's ensure that people like this kid "continue to have his second amendment rights unimpeeded."

Blaming culture when guns are part of the culture is a complete cop out.

Wishing there were still fistfights is like yearning for the days of civilized warfare where the gentry had picnics while the soldiers killed one another in open fields.

It's whole lot easier to make access to the gun either far more difficult or impossible than it is to find all the crazy people who want to kill other people.

Not sure why that's so not obvious to you.

It's pretty clear that the gun community has not been able to be as responsible as they claim to be in terms of killing other people.

Like voting right, like free speech, like freedom of religion, like search and seizure, etc, etc etc- the second amendment needs to join all of the rest that have reasonable bounds on what it really is allowed to do. For 100% sure, we will never rely on a militia army to defend our borders. Ever.
