Maine will definitely be better off in the 6th/7th position & out of the BC/BU bracket.
Doesn't matter where they finish, they are going nowhere just like we all thought before season started. They sign Red to an extension you can expect it for years to come.

I swear there ain't no heaven but I pray there ain't no hell.
Then you'd have a D-III school because the NCAA mandates at least 15 to be Division I.
You know why Maine can't be a D-III school? Because unlike EVERY DIVISION THREE SCHOOL IN THE COUNTRY, the University of Maine cannot post video highlights of games happening on its own GD campus.
Hopefully the next AD realizes its not 1954 anymore.
OK, sorry about my grammar/spelling....schooling was not high on my 2-do list, should have been but work came first and all the time. But again Thank You..!!!!
Maine better find a way to get a point tonight, all 5 games this year vs UNH and Mack went to OT, I dont love the look of that in a playoff series
Well in that scenario you have to play someone. I'd love it to be UNH. It is a rivalry and it would be a great atmosphere. And at this point there is virtually no hope for making post season national playoffs, so extra home games against the rival are great for young team.

In some ways I agree. In others I don't. I do not want to disrespect this senior class, but I do not believe their contributions can't be overcome. In fact, I believe there will be a considerable improvement when that ice time is given to others. Combine that with what looks to be about as good of a recruiting class as I have seen in a while.
I think you are seeing Maine on an uptick. No doubt lately it sucks. But looking ahead doesn't, in my opinion.
So I wouldn't mind a one or two year extension and see where it goes. I likemomentum and I think there is some. Also, I believe Whitehead dealt incumbent a **** sandwich. Not even a schedule built? Recruits are all from a pipeline in ehl?

No doubt the recruiting is much better. Not sure the senior class is that bad. Vesey and Hamilton are the only ones who get a ton of ice time. Maybe that's the hindrance, more seniors should be playing but aren't good enough?

How many seniors do we have?
Hammy is an at home that i think is valuable but hasnt played too much lately. Cedric is a 4th line centerman and penalty killer and a defensive specialist. Vesey is a skilled forward that doesn't play in his own end at all.
This is jumbled but things will go smoother to process next year. If we are in this same position next year, I can and will agree. But, would like you to see.... We are about youngest in hockey east and have a great couple classes lined up.

Lose a battle and win a war.
, Hammy should be back next weekend

I have been hoping for UNH-Maine in the first round the last few years since neither team had much to be proud of and the added round has little sizzle to it. As you say it is a good rivalry and at least one team will have something to feel positive about at the end of the season. Its been twenty years since they met in the first round so its about time....

Blackie, have to disagree...
Maine is 16-13-4 vs. a weak SOS. And, that's the best record they've had since Red's 1st year, when the team was 100% Timmy recruits. I don't see any real "uptick", because -by any reasonable measure- that just doesn't exist.
There is no way in the world I would extend Red at this point. Absolutely no way. That makes zero sense on the basis of what he's done so far. He's been a bad coach, plain and simple.
However, if the incoming recruits are as good as you think they are, that class might save his job. (Not holding my breath on that one; Red has already had plenty of time to turn things around, and he hasn't.)
So, I'd tell Red: it's the NCAA's or walk, and work behind the scenes to promise Guite a chance, maybe, or just attempt another re-build. What, really, does Maine have to lose either way?
