I'd say you could convict and whack Hitler, probably a fanatic like OBL or possibly even Charlie Manson. McVeigh, not so much.

I didn't say "cruel and unusual".
I said prisoners shouldn't live better than the taxpayers footing the bill.

    Beg pardon?

Was this all part of the plan so You Know Who could come back soon?

Is there any other conclusion to draw?

Where do you draw that line? Homeless people pay sales taxes. So prisoners shouldn't get any shelter by your logic. Numerous people struggle to fill their stomachs with food, or get medicine they need. Guess prisoners shouldn't get meals or meds, either.

The state is already depriving them of their freedom. Maybe you should worry more about raising the standards of taxpayers and less about lowering the already low standards of the penal system.

    Justly. That's key.

And I'm not saying we shouldn't better society overall. Don't confound the two.

Then again, I don't see how anyone in prison should live any better than the folks lowest on the socio-economic system who are law abiding. If they don't have cable or internet and eat Ramon three nights a week ... well, folks in prison should have (or not) the same.
What you're proposing amounts to cruel and unusual punishment, because you'd have prisoners with no shelter, no medicine, and no food. Because there are law-abiding citizens going without any or all of those.

I wish there was a neurological test for this. It seems to break down to a near 50/50 division of the population.

Which do you prefer to tolerate:

a: alpha error (risk allowing the guilty to evade punishment to protect the innocent)

    or

b: beta error (risk punishing the innocent to ensure you punish the guilty)

It's gotta be in the brain. It's such a distinct difference of beings. I can't crawl into a beta brain. I assume they can't crawl into mine.

It's a righty trope, like Welfare Queens.

It doesn't have to be real. It just has to be really convincing to a person who already wants to believe it.

Sure seems to be a lot of programs set up for the inmates in Bismarck. But, they do pay for their own cable. I wonder how many folks would like to take an AutoCAD course at no cost. Or get their welding certificate. (Welders are making really good money these days.)

EDIT: Be sure to read the section on Identification Cards; but, end each numbered section with the words "or spend a night in the box."

So why do we vote if Langley controls congress? I mean, how can senators vote with so little information in-hand? Why don’t they demand accountability and further, demand compliance with the laws of our country?
