At least Germany has some central parties so that a move to the extremes is not a one way street.

I sort of like their voting system. Because they have so many parties, each ticket has 2 things to choose from. First, is a specific candidate and second is a party. It's broken down regionally similar to state houses but slightly bigger regions. In this case, multiple people from one party can run simultaneously in the same district. They take the vote for parties first and that determines the number of seats each party gets. You need 5% to get a rep.

The actual reps are then appointed based on total votes. So if party A gets to place 50 people in the parliament, they'll take their top 50 vote getters and put them in.

But the CSU (slightly right) will often create a coalition with both the green and spd (slightly left, but becoming irrelevant) parties. Only when the crazies are there do the parties not work together.

What is intriguing to me is the possibility of Khashoggi's Apple Watch recording his death. Would be interesting to see what data he pushed from his watch before dying, and what data the Apple Watch pushed to his account on it's own.
