Don't think throwing money is the answer, especially given that the Belichick coaching tree doesn't have too many successful branches e.g. Crennel, Weis, McDaniels I (the one guy in the world who thought he could turn Tim Tebow into an NFL quarterback; was that hubris, abominably poor evaluation, or both?). If the Steelers replace Tomlin, I don't think they should focus on the Patriots -- their silly obsession is one of the big reasons that their season is over. It's also the reason that the Jets and Bills wasted time with Rex Ryan. You should hire a guy who suits your team, not who's a supposed expert on another. Vrabel may be the guy, but it should be because he's the right fit, not because he played for the Patriots.
Allowed his team? He led the charge. I don't give "bulletin board material" as much credence as some do, but I think it can be an indicator that you're not focused, and that DOES matter.

In the past I've seemed more supportive of Tomlin than you have. I don't watch many Steelers games, but the end of the Patriots game was a really bad look. Not the touchdown that got called back; that was either a bad call, a bad rule, or bad luck. But the play in which only two guys know the play and nine think it's a spike was a really bad reflection on the coaching staff. And scoring 42 points and losing a playoff game to Blake friggin' Bortles is bad, even if you take into account the turnovers and the defensive touchdown. He has the look of a guy who's accomplished about as much as he's going to in Pittsburgh.

Tomlin is a joke. I can't ever recall a coach allowing his entire team to call out who they want to face in the playoffs and look past the upcoming opponent in favor of the next game. In case nobody told him, playoffs are sudden death - as in you win or you're eliminated. Tomlin does know that, right?
