NASHVILLE — A bill requiring Tennessee schools to prominently display the national "In God We Trust" motto is headed to the governor for his signature.

The legislation, sponsored by Rep. Susan Lynn, R-Mount Juliet, overwhelmingly passed the state House on Monday with 81 of the 99 members voting in favor of it. Before the vote, the Republican lawmaker spoke from the House floor about the prominence of the phrase.

"Our national motto is on our money. It's on our license plates. It's part of our national anthem," Lynn said. "Our national motto and founding documents are the cornerstone of freedom and we should teach our children about these things."

The bill requires schools display the motto in a prominent location where students are likely to see it, like a school entryway, cafeteria or common area. It offers more freedom on what form it takes, suggesting that it could be a mounted plaque or student artwork.

Last I knew, the national motto was "E pluribus unum." But these redneck herp-a-derps probably couldn't support that one.

That seems to be a mischaracterization of the article and the law

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb signed a new law that will require medical providers who treat women for complications arising from abortions to report detailed patient information to the state.
                        Code:
As of 9/21/10: As of 9/13/10:

Yeah, it sounds like the law requires doctors to report certain information when complications from abortions arise. Still ridiculous, but much different from what Cathleen posted.

Well I should hope so! Not sure what the purpose of the law is though and doubt it passes any sort of scrutiny by the courts.

Romney the supposed "check" on the President thinks Trump is a ***** on immigration.

About a month after the 2012 presidential election, Mitt Romney’s campaign chief, Matt Rhoades, appeared at a forum and expressed “regret” for how far to the right the GOP candidate went on immigration. It was an understandable sentiment: Romney posturing on the issue helped contribute to his defeat.

Romney, however, appears to have no such regrets. The former Massachusetts governor, now running for the Senate in Utah, this week took aim at Dreamers, arguing that Donald Trump isn’t far enough to the right on immigration.

The comments came as the 2012 Republican presidential nominee turned 2018 Senate candidate defended his conservative credentials in front of a crowd of Republican voters in Utah worried he was too moderate to earn their votes.

“For instance, I’m a deficit hawk,” Romney said while taking questions at the town hall in Provo, according to the Daily Herald. “That makes me more conservative than a lot of Republicans and a lot of Democrats. I’m also more of a hawk on immigration than even the president. My view was these DACA kids shouldn’t all be allowed to stay in the country legally.”

Romney added, “Now I will accept the president’s view on this, but for me, I draw the line and say, those who’ve come illegally should not be given a special path to citizenship.”
