Thought this might be of interest due to the number of Minnesotans (and evidently Chinese) on the site:

Minneapolis is North America’s 3rd most expensive city, says The Economist

Few would discount the notion that the cost of living in Minneapolis is rising to unpleasant levels. At the same time, few would argue that we have it worse than San Francisco, D.C., Seattle, Chicago, or Boston. New York naturally finished first among North American burgs, followed by Los Angeles. But tucked in third place – ahead of all those towns known for their punishing costs – was little old Minneapolis, which is also ranked the 26th most expensive city in the world.

I don’t think it has risen to uncomfortable levels.

It’s nowhere near New York or California. We also have an incredible state. So the moderate pricing isn’t bad.

Rent is rising here, faster than salaries so I can see where it’s more expensive that most think. But not that expensive

Gotta be driven by something being overvalued in the model. Although I was thinking: if it goes by metrics like median prop values, a city without Poors would have a strong advantage. I don't think of Minneapolis as having slums or ghettos or even tough blue collar neighborhoods. And it's white as milk.
