        Jones' job is to get re-elected in two years. If he does that he is golden because getting rid of Senators is tough.

              My guess is he's the next ambassador to New Zealand It's harsh to compare Martha Coakley to Roy Moore but the Doug Jones to Scott Brown comparison is a good one.

                  I think 2018 will be an interesting primary process. Though I'm guessing there will be a number of deals made on who's running for what major race in 2018 and 2020. Governor, lt. gov, senate, MN-3, MN-6, state auditor, attorney general.

                        Two differences. Scott Brown is a lot cuter and Doug Jones appears to have a functioning cerebral cortex.

                        The DNC should create a separate structure devoted to competing in the deep south, and let Jones run it. It would be a sort of Neo-Dixiecrats, except without the racism and thumping. Well, it would even have thumping, just not the insane OT fascist version. There must be a lot of Thumpers in AL with above a third grade reading level and who don't reflexively bow to the teevee Baptists. They were sickened by Moore and they should be sickened by Dump. They would give a Democrat a fair hearing if there was one who could speak to them as kin. A Molly Ivins of the Bible Belt.

                        That's just it -- I have NO idea how to speak to those people and neither does Bernie or Liz or Nancy or Chuck or Perez or the Snow Muslim. But Doug does; he just proved it.

                        We need a conveyor belt to turn out deeply liberal but also deeply southern candidates and advisers.

                          That is their problem not ours. You need to to start worrying about other demographics instead of just White Women.

                            Appears to be the biggest growth area available to Democrats. I think they should worry about it. They can't grow with African American women. Hispanics and White Women are the two Demographics they could flip and grab the majority.

                                The GOP is gifting us Hispanics. We should be able to make gains among educated, non-Evangelical whites, both female and male.

                                We need to be the party of choice among educated, suburban whites throughout the entire country. We are the party that represents the middle class -- we have their backs on economics. And those people vote pocketbook. We should be the default choice of the Bourgeoisie. That means we compromise a lot on guns, to begin with. That's a single issue voter we don't have to exclude. (Genuinely sorry, joe -- women's rights are fundamental, you're on the wrong side of history.)

                                Most importantly we should push hard for economic justice and reining in the Plutes. That's the single most healthy thing we can do for the middle class.
