families making under 50k are not paying a lot anyhow. so even if you take 100% tax cut of that is isn't going to compare to a cut of any substantial amount for higher incomes.

66% of Republicans support the bill. That will go even higher if it is passed because then it is just points on the scoreboard to them.

I like that less and less people identify as Republican, meaning that that 66% isn't going to be enough outside of primaries.

I got into a lengthy argument with a friend on Facebook (yeah, yeah, that's like two strikes against my better judgement) because he was so hellbent that this was a good move.

He was adamant that "the internet was just fine twenty years ago, it'll be fine tomorrow." He thinks that the cable co's won't do anything like MEO in Portugal. I fear it's a slippery slope that they were already headed down, and Cable Co's needed to be told to quit being d!cks.

After many failed analogies that he plowed through with his thinking, I finally asked "next are you going to tell me we need to eliminate National Park land because 'It's been weeds and dirt for decades, no one will build a Wal-Mart here ever?"

            I haven't gotten a response yet.

I disagree. To be honest, my surprise is only that Rubio didn’t cave even faster. Those Cubans in Miami must be having kids.

It was fine 20 years ago because everyone was following net neutrality then.

We’re not paying anything at all. The point of making the credit “fully refundable” means it’s a straight welfare check after all other refunds are made. It’s direct cash assistance to poor families with kids.

earned income credit you mean? (EIC)

The child tax credit that Rubio inserted late; the original bill had it at $2k but 900 non-refundable. Now 600 of it is non-refundable. (In Congress “non-refundable” means “refundable” and “refundable” means “welfare check”).

It's good but it's deceptive. A lot of "Independents" are like the folks here "oh mercy no, me?, I'm not a Republican" but just happen to vote Republican every time there's no Libertarian. If the GOP was losing votes at the clip they've lost registered members they'd be down to about 30 Senators now. Other things are going on.

Hopefully, but we're going to need to nuke the filibuster for that. With cloture at 50+ we can start turning back some of the plutocratic stuff. Never at 60. With the way things are now culturally no party is getting to 60 for thirty years.
