Annex Canada.

Personally, let's annex Mexico.

This gets you the benefit of US based businesses already there (thanks to manufacturing). And control of the drug trade (no border walls to cross when you own both sides).

And, I'm sure some shady lax rules could be written where they're exempted for xx years from OSHA, minimum wages, and other standards all in the name of "transitioning to new federal rules."

I still can't get over the fact that I have a friend who just thinks all these studies are flawed because ~reasons~.

not flawed. just sloppy.

people who do work for actual industry and make money do solid work (at times). people who work for gov'ment or such can be sloppy and generalize (more often than not). probably because they have crappy solid data to work with and have to make crazy assumptions, but still it is what it is.

people who do work for actual industry and make money do solid work (at times). people who work for gov'ment or such can be sloppy and generalize (more often than not). probably because they have crappy solid data to work with and have to make crazy assumptions, but still it is what it is.

This is garbage. There's plenty of sh-t work in industry and plenty of great work in government. Having spent time in all three sectors my ranking of the intelligence of the self-selected populated is:

1. Academia
(huge gap)
2. Federal government
3. Business

I can't speak for state government.

Texas is still more populous, and there are a lot of dumb Canadians in Manitoba and Alberta, but yes, on balance it would smarten us up a bit.

Every study on the subject has been replicated and came up with the same findings. And the studies weren't only done by the government to my knowledge.

So, I remember Big Banks being responsible for the collapse in '08.

Wells Fargo in 2016 was fined $185 million for issuing millions of fake credit card accounts. In 2017, it was caught overcharging clients on currency trades and improperly charging homebuyers to lock into low mortgage rates.

And in 2018, it could be about to get the best tax deal of all the big banks.

Cheating the customers is why those fines were levied. The company had to pay restitution to each of its impacted clients, pay the fines (multiple sets), fired its head of Community Banking, its CEO, and then their top three currency traders quit just when they found out their group was being audited, and before they could be found culpable and fired, according to the Pioneer Press a couple months ago.
