-15 or so in Minnetonka (western suburb of MPLS). Thankfully, I have underground heated parking. It is rather amusing watching the temp drop on the dashboard reading, from 70 to [insert cold-arse temp] by the time I get to the end of the block.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

That's colder than the Curiosity rover measured on Mars.

My co-worker has one. I thought I heard that the newer cars don't need them, but don't quote me on it.

How many younger folks even KNOW what block heaters are?

You parked too far away from the rink. On Friday, I parked at the ramp across University Ave from Old Mariucci, and that was cold enough. The fiancee wasn't very happy with that walk.

Newer cars with the fuel injection do a much better job starting in the cold than the older carbureted versions, but having a block heater installed doesn't hurt anything. And with these smaller engine blocks, the block heater can be effectively the bulb from the old "Easy Bake" ovens.

How many younger folks even KNOW what a carburetor is, ... or an Easy Bake oven.

Hettinger is probably closer to Mars than it is to where you live.

Hettinger and Mars have the same number of trees also.

Funny enough, I didn’t know that cars no longer have carbuerators until about five years ago. Grew up hearing about them and didn’t realize they no longer are included

There is more to a block heater than starting. Tolerances in the engine change in the cold, block heater warms engine so tolerances are closer to design.
