I'm thinking about an AR. Might as well, since most of the Trumpsters have them. Plus, good prep for CW2 - spend 2018 stocking up on guns & ammo. The orcs are gonna be in for a nasty shock.

Yeah But What Would These Guys Know About Defending the Constitution

Sixteen of the nation’s top retired military commanders are urging Congress to pass gun control legislation, arguing that there are many steps that can be taken to curb gun deaths that do not violate the Second Amendment.

In a letter they plan to send to Congressional leaders, the retired commanders, including Army Gens. Wesley Clark and Michael V. Hayden, Navy Admiral Eric T. Olson, Air Force Lt. Gen. Norman R. Seip and Marine Brig. Gen. Stephen A. Cheney, argue that Congress is “no longer speaking or voting for the majority of Americans, including gun owners” when it comes to the issue of firearms.

“There is no acceptable excuse for our elected leaders to avoid addressing this as a national crisis,” they write.
In a late breaking development Drew S. and many other USCHO "conservatives" now hate the military and think they are plotting to take our guns away

Well, according to the story, the guy is a Chiefs fan so he's understandably a bit on edge lately. A Missouri jury would probably acquit.

Re: 0 Days Since Last Shooting: Reset The Calendar Again

Here is a link to an interesting article on assault weapons, and some theories/opinions as to how a weapon that spent decades ignored and in little demand suddenly became a "must have" weapon of choice.

I personally found one part of the story interesting. I've expressed my opinion on this board that the intense media coverage we give to these events is as much a contributor as anything to the ongoing mass shootings. In the article the authors point out that these assault weapons were readily available for decades, but rejected by gun enthusiasts for a variety of reasons right up until the mass school shooting in Stockton California in 1989. The intense media coverage given to that shooting made widely public the idea that you could even buy a gun like this. Coupled with the decision by Colt to stop production for a year, followed closely by the Clinton ban on assault rifles created a frenzied interest that hasn't let up to this day.

That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

                            And Another

"A 16-year-old boy is in custody after four people, including his parents and sister, were shot to death in a Long Branch, New Jersey, home on New Year's Eve, authorities said Monday.

Officers responded to a 911 call about shots fired at the home about 15 minutes before midnight on Sunday, according to a news release from Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.
The bodies of 42-year-old Linda Kologi, 44-year-old Steven Kologi, 18-year-old Brittany Kologi and Mary Schultz, a 70-year-old friend who lived with the family, were found inside.
Authorities said the teen -- who they did not immediately name -- was taken into custody without incident. It's unclear whether anyone else was in the house at the time of the shooting.
Investigators believe a "Century Arms semiautomatic rifle" was used in the deadly shooting, according to the news release."

So, he must have wanted to shoot everyone up but needed to be drunk to do it? That's just total luck there by the cops and the hotel. Could have been a horrid situation if he stayed sober.
