That really is the best video ever. Just love Howie tearing ND a new one. I sure miss him on the radio now, but Ian Perin sp? is similar for home games.

My wife was POSITIVE that Ian was Howie when she heard him the other day. He's quite good.

Man, I miss bars where things like that happen. Georgia really isn't that way. I offered to buy someone, who I had been talking to for a good hour (a 50+ old guy at the bar,) a drink the other day and they looked at me like I had 3 arms.

Howie was a Grand Forkser and has had deep resentment issues ever since (along with well-known harsh toilet training issues).

And as Wisko says, he's just like y'all.

I was too, at first I was super jacked up it was Howie, then the more I listened, the more I was doubtful until Posick spilled the beans. They are cut from the same cloth for sure. I enjoy Ian very much. I wish he traveled too.

It always was, and maybe still is, a ****ing great team & fan rivalry, but (as we say here in W'sconsin) "lemme tell ya'", they were the best visiting fans that I partied with (no disrespect to goof fans; maybe a little) and showed up in numbers. They were welcome to the old Blue Line Club at the Coliseum. Came early & stayed late and when we were thrown out we continued at Jingles Coliseum Bar, Alt-N-Bachs or wherever else. I am curious to see if they still travel well.

I haven't been to Greater Grand for 10 years, but I will go the next time the Badgers are scheduled there. Anybody else ever go to the old Winter Sports Center in GF? I'm a 2 timer; the 2nd and final time I didn't think I was getting out alive! Looking forward to seeing The Ralph again.

The goal by Robbie at the end was a real beauty. Wasn't UW down 3-0 at one point during that game and Robbie had a natural hat trick to win 4-3 in ot?

That would be a true statement. Never seen/heard a better crowd than that night at the Kohl Center.

I was at that heartbreaker, as well as the two January games in 2000 when Hukalo shoved two OT daggers in Sioux hearts everywhere. Those were among the best two college hockey games I've ever seen, even though the wrong team won both of them. Those nights were both electric. Heatley, Reinprecht, Panzer, Goehring . . . good stuff.

'83 WCHA's when it was two game total goals. Badgers's were 0-3-1 vs. ND during the season. Tied 1-1 in the first game and tied 5-5 after 3 in the second. Cheli broke Sue's heart and ended her season in the 3rd OT. One of the most most satisfying wins ever.

They swept the goofs at Williams the next week, and of course crushed St. Lawrence at home, then beat Providence and Harvard back out at the Winter Sports Center for Coach Sauer's 1st title.

I totally get why current UW students might not give a shyt about old Badger/Sioux history. They know places like Ann Arbor, Columbus, Iowa City and Evanston and a lot of national success in BB and FB. Grand Forks cannot come close to competing, and Michigan, Penn State, et al will soon replace old WCHA rivalries. And UND is growing some good rivalries with some very good NCHC programs. But there something counterculture about hockey, and I have to hope the old fires will still burn for a while. The waterbottle fight would never happen in today's world, and that's probably a good thing. But the passion . . .

And believe me, UND students have always loved this rivalry. Not as intense/angry as the Sioux/gopher rivalry, maybe, but better.

Well I for one prefer this rivalry over all others. I'm glad that both sides are making an effort to schedule it.

That said though, I'm not sure the juice is there anymore other than from a historical perspective with us older folks who remember.

Anyway, hope y'all don't outnumber us tonight although it's quite possible you will.

I'll be there doing my part.

50 miles away and it kills me I won't be able to be there this weekend.

Would you do a little favor for a fellow USCHO poster? Cheer a few Sawks goals for me. I don't expect you to jump up--just maybe look down at your feet like you're disappointed but yell WOOOHOOOO! YEAH BABY!!!.

They don't have to be big goals, and I'm sure you will have a lot to choose from.

What? The oxen come up lame?

And I'm sure there'll be plenty of green in the KC to cheer if you-who get a goal.

The game thread for this series used to be great reading.

Not to worried about the ratio tonight. It'll be interesting to see how much of Saturday's increased crowd is because of Hawks fans, or more Badgers fans coming out of the woodwork.

Anyway, I hope you "do your part" by being extra friendly and hospitable. That means you correct them when they yell "Sioux," because they bought tickets too, so they get to cheer for their team........but sometimes they need a little help! Our help! "Hawks" is more phonetic than "Sioux," so it shouldn't be too hard, but be accommodating!

Sounded like Baker might be able to go tonight.

Just hours away from renewing this rivalry! Man, I really wish I could be there to see it all-- The water bottles all filled and lined up neatly behind the bench... the Swat Teams and National Guard troops deploying around the Visitor's locker room in anticipation of the handcuffs being removed...

It's a Great Day for Hockey!

I was there both nights too. In the 3rd deck because those were the only place to get four tickets two months in advance. The euphoria of back-to-back 6-5 overtime winners against your hated rivals was incredible. The feeling sticks with you for a lifetime (week, at least for 17 years so far).
