  • Well, duh.

A thread committed to the advancement of No Sh-t Studies.

    First up: well, duh.

Tinder brings out the basic mating instincts of men and women as they choose between beauty and brains, a study has found. Men using the smartphone dating app tend to select “hot” candidates, while women are more likely to prize intelligence and stability*. The findings may come as little surprise but suggest that Tinder reinforces ancient mating behaviour that evolved to help us survive, say scientists.

I disagree with their findings. Keps Editorializing is more accurate. Still, that's not always true either. Have a criminal in the family (abusive no less) (no direct relation) and he has never had any problem attracting women to defend him, bail him out, and finance him.

So guys, if you want to have success on Tinder, put on that black sweater over your Oxford button down for the main photo, throw a little pomade in your hair, and mention your high-travel consulting job in your bio?

      Seems legit.

In addition to money, women have always liked bad boys, too.

Combine the two, and you'll be swimming in *****. (yes, that was crass. I'm a bad boy).

I think it breaks down below a certain SES and age range. Girls under 21 seem to fall for the exact opposite of what one would expect. They like the bad boy and they have a million romantic narratives which basically come down to "I have the magic p-ssy* and I can change him." They're not actually interested in the guy at all, they're proving their worth -- getting their act together before taking it on the road. When they turn 21 they become properly mercenary.

The other outlier group are the orc women. They can be 40 and they're still looking for the "rebel" and they actually seek out seedy, creepy guys who treat them like sh-t. It's probably a mixture of reminding them of their abusive fathers and just fitting in with the orc authoritarian rural culture where all the men drink, all the women are sluts, and everybody's borderline illiterate. Dr. Mrs.' best friend growing up married a string of actual felons. The last one didn't call the hospital when she ODed on heroin so she died. Then he ran over a neighbor and rival dealer with his truck and is in the hoosegow on a Murder One rap. And he has a string of herpa-derp chicks standing by their man and scraping up money for a lawyer. Because he's, you know, "a victim of the system" that snotty college boys set up. (Obviously, they are all Trump voters.)

But aside from the young and the dumbf-cks, first women look for the purse, yeah. The nerds win in the end. Woohoo! Sorry, jocks. Enjoy that job as associate sales at the furniture store, and relive those touchdowns you threw in 1983.

              * "Magic p-ssy" is a term coined by Dr. Mrs. to describe how young girls view guys as a way to compete among themselves for who has the greatest value. The cock himself is a worthless fungible.

If I had Clooney's looks I wouldn't have been at the bars, I'd have been at the consulate looking for an heiress.
